convincing secular people that following Satan is wrong

No need in concentrating our resources on the enemy.
Perhaps that's the problem here. If you are considering them your enemy, you're not going to get anywhere! Consider them friends, not enemies.

Also, the Bible says that good works done in Satan's name are done for Christ, and that evil done in God's name is done for Satan. So perhaps you should focus on those who are doing evil in God's name, instead of those doing good in Satan's name. They are the ones in real trouble! take this forum, for example - we get more people causing trouble who call themselves Christians than those calling themselves Satanists! that phenomenon is everywhere.

You're pretty young, aren't you? Most (not all) teenage Satanists are not true Satanists. They say "Oh, wow, let me find something my parents won't like...Satanism sounds good!" then they do things they consider Satanic - pretend to be obsessed with blood or something else like that. I encourage you to frequent the Satanist forum and learn even more.

You know, I believe as you do that we, as Christians, should try to spredd the gospel to every creature, but I think that the religious community in general has lost tact when speaking to those they would consider 'lost'. Remember, we are to speak to each other in love. That should be our motivation. It's not about who's right, but what's right. Try telling your friend something like this, 'I believe that there ia certain way to live in order to attain salvation, and I care for you and your soul because I love you as a fellow human being. Would you like to here what I think God Says?' If they say no, simply reaffirm the fact that you care for them, and you always will, but let them be the first to act and ask questions from then on. Otherwise you will just force them further and further away from you and you may lose a friend.

I wasn't saying that Satanists are the enemy, I was saying that Satan himself is the enemy

Hi All,

I just joined this forum and am having a rather heated discussion with someone who believes that it doesn't matter if you believe in Satan that you will go to heaven otherwise. I would appreciate some help in defending my faith and helping this person realize that if they do follow Satan they will go to the firey pit of Hell. I was baptized as a presbyterian but have only started seriously reading the bible and seriously going to church after giving my heart to Jesus 1 1/2 years ago, I recommited to my faith at an Acquire The Fire rally where I was able to see my friend give her heart to Jesus as well Any help anyone can give in relation to bible passages against satanism or just a strong faith in god would help a lot thanks very much God Bless you all

It's a believer's opportunity and responsibility to hold forth The Word in a crooked and perverse world. Consider it a privilege that you were able to reach one person with the gospel of Light. Perhaps that person you reached for Christ may be the one person who will in turn win hundreds of thousands one day. However, what I am about to write is very important. In order to effectively hold forth the Word of Life you must first know and then practice the knowledge told in II Corinthians 5. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new". At first I thought this meant that when Christ came within a man or woman then that person was a new creature. Right? Nope. Read it again. "Therefore if any man BE IN CHRIST...This verse does not say anything about Christ being in a man, as does Colossians 1:27: "Christ in you, the hope of glory"...It is one thing for God to abide in you, it is quite another thing for you to abide in Christ. When you are in Christ, when you have put Christ in your mind only then is your job as a believer to reconcile. And reconcile means to bring back together that which has been separated. Only when you are walking in Christ and loving others as he does, you, as a believer will have that ministry of bringing back to Him those people who are removed. Then it is your responsibility to tell of the great opportunities everyone has in Christ Jesus. Show forth the love of God; show people that Jesus Christ died for them and was resurrected over 2000 years ago. That is the ministry of reconciliation. I wouldn't preach hell fire and satan because God has never asked us to. Preach about the Word of Life while living accordingly to it. Be an example.

That makes so much sense. I have always testified to the fact that Jesus loves all peoples regardless of race, religion, sex etc . I try to show Christ through my choices and my lifestyle but sometimes I do get a little overzealous in my testimonies (I apologize to everyone I've ever offended by this) I want to win more souls to Christ more than anything, I have a feeling deep in my heart that if my friend stood up and talked about Christ to her non christian friends they would stand up and take notice. She however is afraid of what they will think but as it was told to me in a story I read once if you want the blessings of the cross you must also accept the cost of the cross, and also that when you accept Jesus you become a new person and leave your old ways and life behind.

Maybe I'm just dense, but why would anyone want to convince people that following Satan is wrong?

Because they believe they are right.

alien youth you must remember that everyone has his or her own idea of how to make it to heaven. if worshipping satan is how this person thinks they will make it, let him think it it is his or her right. if you don't believe this is true thats fine but you cannot push your faith off on someone else because it is wrong.

Answer me this: Why is it that you beleive in what you do? What is it about your "proven theories" that is so convincing? Have you ever seen solid proof of the existance of your god? Has he spoken to you, saved a loved one? Or are you all just giving credit to make believe for that which you don't understand? I don't want any excuses like faith. Why do you place faith in he who has abandoned?

Is it possible, from the secular person's point of view, to actually follow Satan? Surely to follow something implies a belief in that something and that belief would undermine their secular...urm...ness. :)

'Convincing Secular People that follow Satan'; I would'nt dream of it.

What you and I believe in is a personal choice, like everything else in life. People need to make choices for themselves, not accept second hand choices - they mean nothing.IMO:)

Great point Fluffy but as I pointed out it`s usually not the secular folks who believe they are following Satan but the theistic folks think thie secular folks are following Satan without even knowing it.

Kinda twisted I know.

OK, what about us Buddhists? Are we "following Satan" according to your understanding?

Technically, yes. If you do not follow the Christian God, you are following Satan. It's an either/or thing.
Well I dont follow the Christian God, so I guess I'm following 'Satan'. aww shucks... lol

I agree with Niamhwitch. I don't think it's an either/or thing, regardless of arguments to the contrary. There is a difference between holding a faith or outlook that is different than Christianity, and holding a faith or outlook that is tailored to be opposed to Christianity. It might be an either/or thing in the latter instance, but not in the former.
