That's fine, I understand what you're saying and where you're coming from. But with how I personally feel about abortion, I know I could never go through with murdering a living being (because that's what abortion is to me). Rape is incredibly traumatic I'm sure, but I'm stronger than that. So yes, I do know what I would do. I'd grow a pair, have it and either put it up for adoption or keep it.

I think that's the point of the poll. You vote to say what exactly it is you're conserving: religion, society, money, the center left — you name it!

I'm not used to using the label "conservative"...
I don't even know if I WOULD be labelled as such...

I think I understand. When you think conservative, you might think generally of the National Party and folks like them. Or, you might think of people strongly opposed to the Labour Party. That's the kind of thing I think we're talking about when we say conservative. That's certainly the kind of thing that political conservative means, anyway.
There are other ways in which you might be conservative. If you are High-Church Anglican, that would be religiously conservative. Or if you are a strict reconstructionist pagan of some type, that could also be a religious conservative.
If you're a monarchist, that would probably make you a constitutional conservative.
If you believe governments shouldn't spend more money than they take in and that they should generally take in relatively little money, that would make you a fiscal conservative.
If you think the social values you learned growing up (or perhaps that your parents or even grandparents learned) are facing degradation and you think they should be bolstered, then you'd be a social conservative.
If you're a bit of a reactionary and want to go back to a previous age when things were better (religiously, socially, politically, whatever), then you might be a right-wing nut job. Like if you think New Zealand should be ruled from London, or you think Maoris and Whites should be kept strictly apart from one another, or you advocate a return to a pre-industrial age, or you wish Hitler had successfully created a thousand-year Reich. Note that some right-wing nut job causes look a lot like some left-wing nut job causes on the outside (like returning to a pre-industrial age). The difference is the motivation.
There's certainly no requirement that you be a conservative. But remember that this is the Conservatives Only forum.

Im glad that you know you are stronger than something that you are "sure" is incredibly traumatic .
And its great that you would "grow a pair" versus some of the rape victims that have no balls...
Your right...those who have been raped need to just snap out of it..

Stacey's already said this is her private opinion and she doesn't want to be pestered about it. It's not like she's trying to force her opinion on anyone else. She's not trying to persuade anyone. The only reason she told us all exactly how she feels is because she was pushed on it — she said she never likes to talk about it anyway. She's said she's pro-choice, so she's not even trying to inflict her views on others through political means. And I don't get the sense that she's even judging anyone. She's just talking about her own personal beliefs about how she intends to live her own personal life.
Why is it so important for you to get her to conform to your views on the issue? She said she doesn't want to talk about it. Why don't you just leave her alone about it? It's not like her views are harming anyone, are they?
Plus, none of this has anything to do with whether we consider ourselves conservative and if so how.

other than that, although im a non conservative by way of life, im probably conservative in ways beyond my self awareness, you know.. like having to eat my sea food accompanied with white wine, and my steak with a good red one.

I dont think she is trying to persuade anyone..And she wasnt "pushed"..to refer to "growing a pair" if she expereinced rape AND an unwanted pregnancy simotaneously.....
To me its a heartless inference that women any women no matter what the other factors are as well Im assuming(age..country..health status..who she was raped and impreganated by)..who are raped and have a subsequent abortion are weak and have no balls...
Thats all Im going to say about that...

Oh and no I was not trying to "get her" to conform to my views..And yes..she possibly could have harmed someone one with her callous use of words regarding women who have abortions after being raped...Even though she was referring to herself..The inference was obvious..IMHO

Dallas you're the one who took this and ran with it. I did not type cast myself by saying I would never have an abortion, because (perhaps unlike you) I have an excellent sense of empathy and can very much imagine myself in that situation. I'm also firm in my belief on this particular issue.
About "growing a pair "--again, rape is traumatic but it's not the end of the world. Don't try to say I'm trivializing it because I'm not. I'm saying that literally: it is not the end of your world.
By the way, thank you Worshipper. The point you made is exactly how I feel. :rainbow1:
I'm going to walk away now because these are my private beliefs and like I have said others are free to do what they want.

And yes rape is the end of your world as you know it if you have been raped. You can never "grow a pair" and be "unraped".NOTHING is EVER the same..At least for those that are raped...NOTHING is ever the same...

Just say..."its not the end of YOUR world as you know it if SOMEONE else is raped..."

And without that knowledge experience . or "affect" that YOU dont endure...You DO NOT KNOW how you would act..not react ...etc....
