Good Job George!!!!

Thanks for helping
all us Dazed and Confused Generation stoners make it through the 70's, thanks for helping us understand ourselves, each other, and the weird, funny world we all landed in.

(and don't worry about all the beer you made me spill, or shoot out my nose as the case (or 6 pack) may be)

Hope your next gig kicks you know what. ;)

Also let it be known that the Council of the Church of DWBHism has officially declared this great man to be the patron saint of the 7 words you can never say on T.V.

ah, i loved George Carlin... oh, my goodness. i learnd he was dead today, too. the man was funny, brilliant, insightful, and crude. all at once. i loved how his crude / odd humor was usually laced with very real and troubling observations on how we humans treat one another...

he will be missed and mourned, but he left the world with some great and ever-timely material.

I head that this morning. It was sad, but then I know Carlin wouldn't like that, so I remember him instead of being sad.

I was heartbroken when I heard this on Sunday. George Carlin turned me on to stand up comedy. I can't tell you how many times he made me laugh. Very sad. I thought George had a good 20 years left in him. :(

You know - to me, it's almost selling him short to say that he was a great comedian.

I think he started out as a comedian, but when weighed in total, I look at him as much as a philosopher as I do as a comedian.

The delivery of his views was wrapped in comedic style, but the substance of his work is actually a philsophical point of view.

Regardless, this world got a little emptier today.

I agree. I think that's what made him great. There are a lot of funny comedians out there, but he was a funny philosopher.

Totally agree that he was more than a comedian. But then a lot of the best comedians are. Carlin was a keen observer of human nature. I loved many of his routines but one that I constantly think of is where he talks about drivers. There are two kinds of drivers in the world, a-holes and maniacs. When you're stuck behind someone going much slower that you, you think "Move it, you a-hole." And when someone speeds by much faster than you, you say, "Did you see that maniac?" (He described it much better, of course.) I constantly think, that's how we are, not just with drivers but everyone. There are two kinds of people in this world, those who's views are more mainstream/old-fashioned than your own and those who's views are more radical/extreme than your own. And we tend to find fault with both kinds of people.

Yes, that is true to a degree. My main thing with drivers, though, is that if you're going slower than normal speed, then get out of the way (As in don't do the speed limit in the fast lane), and if you're going faster than normal speed, then just don't be an a** about it and weave and cut people off.
