God is a spirit and therfore has no physical image. In that case it is the human spirit that is created in God's image.

There is no place in the Bible where it says that men created God. That concept is an invention of men to explain away God. However idols are men's creations, so some people might be excused for confusing man-made idols with the One True God.

Of course it doesn't say in the bible man made God lol. If it did this argument would have been over centuries ago. I don't respect the bible as a credible source of facts however, it's just crap written down a few thousand years ago by different people at different times, then compiled together in a big meeting to create a holy book. I suppose the council of Mycea (Nycea? Can't remember teh spelling) was divinely inspired and they just happened to know which books to add and which books to take out. The problem is when someone mentions "The Bible" I immediately think of "The Bible" As in "A long collection of geneology and mythological writings smashed together into one book, with no reason to believe 90% of it is true at all."

That's like saying Harry Potter may be real because nowhere in the Harry Potter books does it say that Harry Potter was created by the author.

Can't brain. Has dumb.
I dont believe god has properties as such. I believe he/she/it is just there, and controlling our planet, and watching over us...Like the government. You make a wrong move and youll get zapped!

So there, we differ rather greatly in our definitions of Who/What god is!

But with my definition we are.
With your definition, I guess we're not.

nope. I'm actually agnostic so there isn't an answer from me. I was interested to see what many of the theist members would say, and the ex-theists as well.

I have in my possession a Harry Potter book. It says "J.K. Rowling is the author of six celebrated novels in the Harry Potter sequence." A novel is a work of fiction.

II Tim. 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness. (NASB)

Way to focus on the dumb part.

Let's focus on the important part.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Bible - Lot's of fragmented stories compiled together hundreds of years after they were written down by different people with different churches and different agendas in a land with no plagiarism laws and about a 10% literacy rate or less, where scribes were frequently illiterate and just translated symbols that they did not understand from one page to another. Partly Genealogy and Partly folklore, with tall tales involving spirits possessing animals, angry gods, miracles, epic battles, tragic downfalls, inspiring victories.

It is nice that you have an opinion but I don't see as worth much as evidence.

2Pe 1:16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Is it really that big in your bible, or are you just being obnoxious? You don't need evidence that the ridiculous claims of the bible are untrue, you need evidence that they are true. Otherwise hundreds of myths and legends and religions are all assumed to be true, which makes what we know about the world degrade into gibberish. Why is it people feel the need to resort to big letters anyway, saying it louder doesn't make it fact.

Seriously, the bible saying that's it's not fables is not impressive. And secondly, do some research on the historicity of 2nd Peter, it is probably the most controversial book in the bible as far as authenticity, seeing as how there is no mention of it before the 2nd century in any historical context.

Was man created in god's image or was god created in man's image?

Excellent question!

I think that both are true, in a sense. If God exists, then obviously Man was created in God's image, but man naturally wants to try and explain God into ways that he can understand.

Every person who believes in God struggles with 'faith', because faith requires accepting the unknowable. If they don't, then they're just fashioning their IDEA of God into something that makes sense to them.

A lot of people become atheists because their IDEA of God, the God they were TAUGHT doesn't mesh with the real world. In other words, their god was too small.

So yeah, man creates God in his own image all the time. The question is... is the first one true as well? Well, that one requires faith.
