I have my Stats final tomorrow as my professor told us "just for spite"
Anyone have any tips to help me absorb as much information as possible within 12 hours?

Honestly--FLASHCARDS. Also, if you could write down the stuff you need to know, it might help your memory. For some reason, just the act of writing something helps a lot.

Don't panic, the more you worry about absorbing the info the more you'll forget when it comes to test time.

First tip.....get off RF. :D

Take a short nap in between study periods and be sure to eat some protein tonight. Get a good night's sleep.

You have a final on Saturday. How rude!

I second flashcards, they work very well. Don't watch TV or listen to loud music while you study. Get plenty of rest, and maybe have someone quiz you (if that is possible). Studying with another person is helpful, too.

I have one....

...stay out of online forums asking others for study tips...when you could be studying instead.

;-)

Bon chance.

This is how I used to study. I would get different colour highlighters. As I read through a chapter, I would highlight important parts with one colour, the very important parts with another colour and if there are definitions that I needed to memorize, I would use yet another colour. After I finish read the chapter, I would browse throught the chapter and look at the stuff I highlighted. If you are limited for time, perhaps you can just browse the very important stuff afterwards....for me it seemed to help if I did this on the morning of the exam itself. Also if you have to memorize a list of things, use the first letter of each word and try to form a word in your mind, that way you'll remember the first letter of every word in the list. The word can be a silly word - not a real word because this is not always possible, just something that when you pronounce it and spell it, you can easily remember your list. Whenever I got desperate, I tried to remember the page and how it looked, the way the words were, to see if I can remember it easily. Think positively, know that you can accomplish what you set out to do. The mind is very powerful and can help us actualize what we think about strongly.

Well??? Did you take your final in Stats yet? If so, how do you think you did? Did any tips help?

Do drugs.

Load up on as much DMT and ayahuasca as possible and simply download everything you need to know from the Collective Unconscious.

Failing that, boff your professor if he/she is of the opposite sex. And possibly even if of the same sex...:D

If you just can't bring yourself to bother, content yourself that "not-knowing" is the Divine state of Man.

peace,
GOD.

While I applaud that at least someone finally said "Do drugs," (regardless its benefit) I have to point out that he's probably already taking his exam.

Hope you did well, Yos.

In my school days we were given what was called a liberty day before exams... we could do any thing we liked except study.
What you cram in those last few hours simply confuses and is no help at all.
Much better to relax and go to the exams fresh.
cramming is no substitute for knowing your subject.

In those days there were no multiple choice questions... every thing had to be answered in full by yourself... the more detail the more marks...In maths there were only Log tables and slide rules. so you had to be able to work out the rough answer in your head to place the decimal point.
The important skill was knowing how to work things out, in science and math, memory was little help.

I prefer to read it. I am very lucky in the fact that I can read something and remember it. I actually find cramming with loud music on helps because I associate the music with the work so since I already know the music thinking of the music makes me think about what I was doing when I was listening to that song the night before. Classical conditioning people :p

And hope you done well on your test!!

Flashcards.
Use images if possible.
Acronyms.
Recitation. I've memorized two pages of a speech within three hours by continuous recitation.

What you want to do is draw on different areas of the brain. It will help you memorize faster and anchor information into your brain. I highly suggest reciting what you want to memorize.

Well, thanks for the advice. I finished, which is actually a miracle in and of itself, considering how many people failed to make it halfway through. I am wondering if the test gave me some sort of psychological trauma because I want to bludgeon my prof with a lead pipe.
