I am also curious about Eastern thought - but I'm closer to Hinduism and Sikhism than Buddhism (because many people who practise Buddhism discourage the belief in God, sadly. I'm not sure why because I'm not convinced Buddha was atheistic..). Why don't you start a few threads in the Dharmic DIRs asking some questions and see where they lead you?
Have you tried the Belief-o-Matic quiz? It should help you know what your beliefs are closest to. You may for example have a lot in common with say, Hinduism or something else.
