Haifa's a good city. It's better than Tel Aviv IMHO. Maybe I'll move there one day myself ;) :D

Where did you live in Israel? Were you originally Israeli or did you make aliyah?

Sorry for the questions out of the blue.

You are welcome. Israel is the only democratic, secular and free country in Middle East, and anyone who believes in the above values should support Israel.

Some of the first origins of the evil eye are considered to be Indian. Indians have a massive ocular fetish I do not understand :D. I realized this as a Hindu years ago. but the definite consensus is that it is Mesopotamian and goes back to the goddess Ishtar/Innana/Astarte in Mesopotamia. This is my specialty by the way :D. But the hamsa is related to the fact that Ishtar's descent to hell was a way of suppressing evil. Many old Akkadian references along with Sumerian often refer that her hand as capable of suppressing something.

So most likely somebody put the evil eye on Ishtar's hand and used this as a form of magic to suppress the evil eye. This is why you always see statues of Ishtar or Inanna with a different object in her hand and her arms raised

I am very familiar with the origins of the Hamsa. I study Semitic mythology and religion which is why I use it as an avatar.

Hey dantech, I thought I'd inform you about the Theists Only! section of the forum. It may be of interest to you. You will have access to a "Theists Only!" section, and you can make your name purple. :D

Thanks, man. And I couldn't agree more with what you said attached to the kind frubal you gave me. I think so too, and from both sides of the spectrum.

Try scoring against Maccabi Samaria while the game is already arranged with the Roman referee. Not counting the lack of shade in Caesarea's hippodrom during summer in Judea. It takes conviction, and after kicking out one of the Judases from the team, it also takes a lot of faith as a coach in the remaining 11th disciples to muster some team work.
