What "if" you are wrong

Faith-confidence in what we hope for (Hebrews 11)
My beliefs in God haven't done me a bit of harm. I can honestly say they have brought me great joy. A significant change occured in my life when I started to pay more attention to what God thinks of than what other people think of me.
Very good point, I like that. Sometimes we have to revise our viewpoints about God and our relationship with Him.

You & I have different definitions of "objective".

Whose scripture?
Muslim's, Christian's, other?
How can one scripture be rationally shown
to be right, & the others wrong?
Again, that's an interesting point. Sometimes takes time to think about. What I like is that there were nations around Israel who did not believe in or respect the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Similarly, neither did some of the Israelites. So it becomes an interesting account, furthermore the idea of truth or rationality makes it all the more reasonable to me about the history of the nation.

You know what I'm going to do? Do the best I can and let God sort things out. I do believe there's a God and I've chosen Christianity but I would bet as I've said many times that we're all in for some surprises, and personally I'm OK with that.
The problem is that since the Bible speaks of Armageddon, yes, what would a person do with that?

Isn't that why death might not be so bad after all...because in life there is doom, disaster and destruction. But in death there is nothing.
Not so sure about that. I guess we'll see Scriptures.

Rudolf Steiner set down his theory of what happens after death from the very first moment. Interesting and not "heavenly" nor "fire and brimstone", but certainly uncomfortable, and somewhat plausible within the Christian scriptures. Sometimes I wonder why in this world do I get drawn to read these sorts of essays. LOL !!

Who wrote the Bible? Certainly not God, and not even the Prophets. Men wrote it.
Why should we believe tat what men wrote came from God?

When was the Old Testament written and who wrote it?

Composition. The first five books—Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, book of Numbers and Deuteronomy—reached their present form in the Persian period (538–332 BC), and their authors were the elite of exilic returnees who controlled the Temple at that time.

I know but some people believe
all of the Bible is inspired by God - God's word to humanity...

I know that some people believe that but that doesn't make it true.
It is possible that some or even all of the Bible was inspired by God, but that is not enough of a foundation for me to base a belief in God on, let alone a belief in everything that the Bible says about God!

Hi Kathryn,

It sounds like you've got a solid faith in God and a chill attitude about life's surprises. Choosing Christianity but staying open to unexpected twists is a cool approach. Interesting take. Your signature is Ex Nihilo which could be a Big Bang idea (more towards my side of the house) or even god caused the Big Bang idea. (Again this is not a bad argument) Your saying under your photo is interesting, what does that mean?

I any event new here. Just saying hi!

I hope all is well.

I was thinking about this recently. So a convicted killer in some states of the U.S. can get the death penalty. Even if he killed 6 people, he only gets one death penalty, meaning he can only die once. Think about that. When God imposed the death penalty on Adam and Eve, they only died once. They weren't told they would be tortured or die again and again. On the other hand they did have quite a while to think over the situation, but could not reverse it, as if to say, "we're really sorry..." They never expressed regret anyway, and that kind of shows they knew they were guilty and deserved what God told them would happen. -- death...

According to Steiner's theory, or just part of it, in one phase of post-death, this multiple killer would take on the consciences of all he sinned against and would mentally "live" through those wrongs from their perspective. IOW, he would see, think, and emotionally feel each and every murder as the victim. So without even thinking about being a murder, just imagine if you were a playground bully, or simply a rude person? Not exactly heavenly, is it? LOL

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

Howdy! Thanks for the compliments. I've lived long enough to know that I can and sometimes do change my mind. I believe that faith and science work together, hence the Ex Nihilo. As for the saying under my photo, it's the name of a book! I really have no idea what it means, and I don't think the author did either.

No death penalty in this story. The two died a natural death (they were not killed).
As far as using the word 'killed' goes, please excuse me if I don't know your viewpoints too well yet -- do you believe in evolution as the reason we are alive, or do you believe God designed the means of life and has power over life and death?

Death penalty usually means to terminate someone's life. If someone dies a natural death then there is no death penalty. What's this have to do with evolution?
