I don't think Ciscokid is dancing on his grave.

For the record, neither did I.

Not respecting someone just because they've died is not the same thing as celebrating someone's death.

As I tried to explain, dying doesn't mean you suddenly have to respect someone, but courtesy might advise a response that's maybe a little...quieter.

As a side note though, I'll be throwing a huge party when my mother-in-law finally kicks the bucket.

Heh...now that I could understand. :D

What makes it better? The death of one hate-mongering individual isn't going to change anything. His ideas and sentiments are still out there... and not all that uncommon. All that's changed today is that there's one less prominent outlet for it. I don't see that as particularly positive. It's like cutting the head off a hydra... three more spring into place.

So having one less hate-mongering individual in the world isn't a positive?

Death is inevitable for everyone. I met the man several times at Liberty Counsel and I extend condolences to family and friends.

I don't think so, since it really doesn't change much overall. I'd say it was positive if he had realized what a hate-mongering... so'n'so he was being and renounced what he had said and preached tolerance, but he didn't. He just died. Nothing positive has come of it.

As much as I have never liked Falwell, I can't bring myself to speak ill of the dead. It's just not sporting. Perhaps we may duke it out in the afterlife.

Jerry Falwell was a great man. He founded the Moral Majority in 1979 and brought evangelicals into power with the political muscle to elect Ronald Regan. It began the era of lower taxes and a voice in government that rang true with the once silent majority.

The middle class enjoyed bigger homes, nicer cars, better education, and morals and family values where back in style once again. The stock market climbed and anyone that could save anything made a killing in the market.

Jerry did not succeed over turning Rove vs. Wade, but has succeeded in getting more conservative appointments to the supreme court. His work is not finished, but he has left the religious right more power in their hands than before he started his ministry.

Farewell Reverend Jerry Falwell, your rewards await you in heaven!

The Evangelicals elected Bush, too. What are Jerry's rewards in heaven for having had a hand in that?

73 is still fairly young, imo. prayers for his family and friends.

like many others here i have found little to agree with Falwell, and have been turned off and dismayed by many of his views and campaigns. still... i won't wish him any ill.

the man's dead now, and anger at him won't actively help solve issues one may have with his messages and ministry.

I love President Bush! I stand behind the President 100%. Just wait till you get a load of the next Commander and Chief

You are kidding me, right?

Dubya has lied countless times and the American people (some) seem to be okay with it. It is disgusting. Anywho. Off topic.

I'm disgusted by this thread and the treatment of those who died - whether they were good or not - whether you agreed with them or not.
