Dealing With Dread

Today is a day of doing stuff I don't want to do.

Normally, a day contains stuff I don't like doing, like loading the dishwasher, wiping up spilled drinks, picking garbage off the kitchen floor that the cat has knocked over for the 87th time(same cat, every time), or even dealing with a super-mega fit from the 8 year old, but this day has a few "I really don't want to do that" things.

How do you get ready for stuff you hate/dread doing?

I either do it immediately or start working on something else I have been putting off. My list of "don't want to do" is large enough so that works for me.

I find just getting it over with to be helpful, too, if I have control over the time frame.

Once its done and out of mind, I don't have to dwell on it anymore.

How about for stuff you can't control the time frame on? (Such as an upcoming event.)

I can't stand to put off things that I know must be done. Dishes, rooms, etc. So I just do it and do it fast so I can relax afterwards with my cup of tea and some snacks lol :D

I've found with housework, there is no 'done'. Dishes done? Think again! Here comes 5 new plates that were under a kid's bed... living room clean? Think again! There's a toy train extravaganza going on! Bathroom clean? Think again! A kid left the door open, and a dog got into the trash....

And the list goes on.

That can be a pain, trepidation of a future dread. I try not to dwell on it, keep occupied but the dread always wins and i am stuck getting more and more concerned until the time comes. Nine times out of ten it wasn't a bad as I'd dreamed it would be

A never ending round and round... But think how bored you would be if you gad the easy life

I find this true as well, most of the time.

Occasionally, its worse than anyone anticipated, and that's because people were not taking my concerns about the children(Ares in particular) seriously.

I remember someone insisting, after our babysitter here canceled, that we go out to their place, and they'd hire a new one out there(it was out of state). With his special needs, I said that probably wouldn't work. Neither they nor my husband would hear that... we got out there for a three day event(of which the sitter would be needed about ten hours each day), and the sitter canceled 4 hours into the job because she wasn't willing to watch Ares any longer(she'd have had to get off her phone and take him outside, and that was unacceptable). So, I got stuck in a hotel room with three unhappy kids for the weekend, while everyone else got to have fun...

I seldom cry, but I did that time.

A never ending round and round... But think how bored you would be if you gad the easy life

Yeah, I agree. I'm not complaining... just sayin' this is how I lost my attachment to the idea of being 'done', and why I'm perfectly comfortable resting amidst uncompleted jobs.

Offer it up to Durga to bring grace from Heaven to earth, to defeat evil, and help suffering , needy, scared , desperate, hurting people!

Offer her everything you don't like doing, as a sacrifice. Suffering is meritorious. It makes prayers more powerful! You can do it Saint George! :)

Yeah, good idea...

I may need to call on her should I have to manifest a ferocious form, anyways. Thanks for reminding me to keep my friends close...

She certainly is, but I don't think I could ever step on Shiva... no matter how mad I got!
Do you think she can defeat Shiva in a fight?. Does she have greater physical strength? I believe it is said that Shiva cannot contain or stop her when she has a fit of rage! :)

I'm not sure they could fight! They(Shiva and Shakti) are inseparable; how can one defeat themselves?

In this case, he did not stop her by force, but peace. I have read that when she became enraged, she not only slew the demons, she began to demolish everything. Shiva laid on the ground, and once she saw she was standing on Shiva, she began to calm down again...

Get it over with early, so you can spend more time doing fun things.
