My chainsaw is not working, my battery powered limb saw is now all out of power and batteries....and now I'm out of twine...... I think this means I take the rest of the day off from cutting up the fallen tree limbs and binding them together to be taken away.......only about 1.25 of the 4 big limbs that fell left anyway......

Plus when it's said, it's often looking at how the parents are now, and not when they were that person's age.
I've not heard it in that regard. Like my dad saying my [half] sister (his step daughter) "wasn't raised that way." Well, none of my mom's kids turned out how she thought she was raising us.
Or, just now, my ex complaining her (also half, different dads) brother wasn't raised that way. I know. Their mom is too much of a saint and can be "stepping stone" too nice.
I just hear this expression a lot, but I'm not seeing a very solid correlation.

I bought a fake owl to keep the ducks off my driveway of a night. The dog is terrified of it and the ducks use it as a windbreak :expressionless:
