Eggs. Ok to eat eggs or not ok.

I am a vegetarian, not a vegan,. I won't eat animal flesh, but I will eat dairy products like cage free eggs., milk, cheese and ice cream.
That's fine. I was "that sort" ( :p ) of vegetarian for about 30 years. I became uncomfortable with it once I looked into the conditions and practices of the egg and dairy industries - which contain levels and types of cruelty and killing I had been ignorant of, such as regarding the male chicks in the egg industry and the male calves in the dairy industry.

I saw an egg thread last week but can't find it so I started this one.

Egg laying is a natural process for hens and doesn't harm them in any way. With no animal getting harmed, why do some still avoid eggs?
Allergies?
I do know that there are objections raised concerning the factory process of it though. Free range vs cage eggs for example. It might be a natural process. It doesn’t mean we haven’t gone about it in entirely unsafe ways, all the same

It would be just the egg. No sperm as there is no male copulation.

You know. I eat eggs all the time. I can see why it's not good cause it comes from a living being but so do some of the clothes we wear.

I wonder if one can live without any animal products-food, clothes, furniture, and otherwise.

No ice cream either. That must be awful.
I regularly eat ice cream, it happens to be vegan.

(As an aside to this, our Italian neighbours have a long established ice cream business. They sell vegan alongside dairy. They are indistinguishable - and yummy).

Personally for me as someone who is predominantly plant-based, I wouldn't mind eating eggs if I knew the chickens who laid them were raised humanely.

We get our eggs locally, i usually go and say hello to the chickens.

There are lots of people keep a couple of chickens. Have a look around, if you see (or hear) any then talk to the owner, if they have eggs to spare they will most likely sell you some... Usually for less than half supermarket prices

Beats me. No omelettes, no souffles, no mayonnaise, no Hollandaise sauce, no cakes, no meringues.....

How miserable.

How ignorant.

Off the top of my head - I had vegan mayo on my chips yesterday and have just finished off a fat piece of vegan chocolate and cherry brownie.

Well our chooks get a safe place to sleep, they get spoilt with grain, Vegatable scraps and to boot it all they get fresh corn and lettuce.

They can not use their unfertilised eggs, so I see it is a fair exchange.

In lacto-vegetarianism, eggs are seen as the equivalent of meat, while milk isn't. It has to do with the origin and nutrients. For me personally, I don't eat eggs for the same reason I don't eat meat. When I did the experiment, I felt lighter and clearer minded. In the transition from carnivore to omnivore, I did eat eggs (and fish) for about a year, especially while travelling, or visiting family, as at that prehistoric time, there were less alternatives.

Seems as nice to me, but we all weigh up our choices. Yuck, dead animals.

I wonder if people think about how many living things they eat or drink each day. It really is only a matter of perspective, after all there are living things that live by feeding on our own bodies.

I thought of abortion, my first thought. Eating (to taking) a life not yet born into a being is avoided.

As in the common argument. I think it's because Any living animal shouldn't die for our gain.

It doesn't take into account we are animals too, but it makes me wonder why we eat some animals and not others.
Not all eggs are fertile. I by mine from a farmer that doesn't have roosters. Just egg laying hen's.
I eat a lot of eggs. Scrambled, over easy, hard boild, fried egg sandwich. No nasty egg salad though lol
