Using your left hand to wipe

Cooky

Veteran Member
I was just wondering what it's like using your left hand to wipe, as is done on the Indian sub-continent. I wonder, because I have only about 6 rolls of toilet paper left and might soon have to find an alternate method. So is it sanitary? And if so, is this something people might have to get used to in the age of COVID-19..?

Are there any other options left. Especially considering that soap is becoming rare, can we use clay to wash our hands?

Soap? Rare? I live in a house with 3 other people and a bar of soap lasts much longer than a month.

In many areas on this side of the pond, soap is absent from supermarket shelves, especially that of the antibacterial persuasion.

I take it most people don't stock soap typically? We do. We have at least 2 spare bars and I keep one in my room.

I haven't used bar soap in over a decade. I almost forgot they exist -we use the push top dispenser kind, which goes quick.

Good idea.

For hand washing, I use antibacterial soap. I have a pump at my kitchen sink and at my bathroom sink. I have a refill bottle stashed for both. I shower with body wash, which is readily available because it has no antibacterial qualities.

I heard from a doctor that tide, hair shampoo and dish soap are all better at killing Coronavirus than anti-bacterial soap last night on TV.

He said basic soap reacts to the fattiness of the cells which "cracks the case" of the virus cells, during scrubbing, and "destroys" the cells.

As to the OP, I'm left handed so I have to think in terms of using my right hand to get a feel for what the question really is.

A re-post from another thread:

I just ordered one of these for my brother in Chicago: Clean Clear Rear End Bidet Butt Wash Washer Adjustable Fresh Water Spray Toilet 636339763806 | eBay

He's been to Europe, he'll cope. :p

It was only $30. Not sure what that comes out to in toilet paper rolls.

Think it's 3 now.
