Tunes For Staying Alert On The Road

halbhh

The wonder and awe of "all things".
Driving....it commands attention.
Must be awake & alert.
What do you listen to?

Btw, I'm posting things in pairs with a common theme of some kind....
Actor, composer, animal, etc.

Theme: Ahnold + Action
hah, yeah, that Conan theme would work! :)

Ever stay up reading Robert E. Howard's Conan stories? They're kinda fun.

  • Then suddenly the borealis, the snow-clad hills and the blazing heavens reeled drunkenly to Conan's sight; thousands of fire-balls burst with showers of sparks, and the sky itself became a titanic wheel which rained stars as it spun. Under his feet the snowy hills heaved up like a wave, and the Cimmerian crumpled into the snows to lie motionless. (The Frost Giant's Daughter)
  • Conan stood paralyzed in the disruption of the faculties which demoralizes anyone who is confronted by an impossible negation of sanity. (The Devil in Iron)
  • Conan did not hesitate, nor did he even glance toward the chest that held the wealth of an epoch. With a quickness that would have shamed the spring of a hungry jaguar, he swooped, grasped the girl's arm just as her fingers slipped from the smooth stone, and snatched her up on the span with one explosive heave. (Jewels of Gwahlur)
Quotes from Robert E. Howard's Conan stories

It didn't have any of my favorite moments in that list, and this is only a hint that doesn't' even show how well the stories flow, pulling you along.

Done some long miles in Texas (lived there a lot), and there's a great one I'm after, but didn't find yet, but found this fun one first:

Cause those are long miles at night, and you get the blues a little just from the miles

ya can sing along, and it helps you get oxygen to the brain

still looking, but another good road song to pass some miles --

Stevie!

good grief there are a lot of road trip texas song lists, and way too many songs to find a song easily

I might not be able to find that one I wanted, but here are a couple more fun old songs I found again along the way:
New Jersey turnpike
Riding on a wet night
'Neath the refinery's glow
Down where the great black river flow
Licence, registration:
I ain't got none
But I got a clear conscience
'Bout the things that I done
Mister State Trooper
Please don't stop me
Please don't stop me
Please don't stop me
Maybe you got a kid
Maybe you got a pretty wife
The only thing that I got's
Been bugging me my whole life
Mister State Trooper
Please don't stop me
Please don't stop me
Please don't ya stop me
Well, in the wee wee hours
Your mind gets hazy
Radio relay towers
Gonna lead me to my baby
Radio's jammed up
With talk show stations
It's just talk, talk, talk, talk
'Til you lose your patience
Mister State Trooper
Please don't stop me
Please don't stop me
Please don't ya stop me
Hey, somebody out there
Listen to my last prayer,
Heigh-ho Silver oh,
Deliver me from nowhere

For driving? They might be Giants. It's great with coffee as a way of clearing the auditory pallette in-between other more conventional driving music.
