I have a type of AIDS, there are more than 80 types. Autoimmune Disease, I don't know if this is the same type of AIDS associated with HIV.

Autoimmune Disease is where the body's own immune system attacks the cells of the body as if it were an infection of some kind. I get painful blisters on my lower legs that end up leaving them scared. Yeah I seldom wear shorts outside of the house.

Anyway there is no virus, no infection. So it's not something that is contagious. My body just randomly decides to act as if there were.

If you don't have HIV, you can't have AIDS. Autoimmune illnesses are unrelated.

It amazes me how ignorant people are of HIV/AIDS, while still being terrified of it. It's not the '80s so people really don't have an excuse anymore.

Even worse, if someone can ask reasonable questions one need not go to a forum for answers. There are real experts that post answers to these sorts of questions. Of course too many people do not know the difference between real medicine and "cures" that come from Green Tea and Turmeric.

I try to be understanding and not judge but it just irritates me when people are extremely ignorant about such things. You'd think if they were worried about it, they would bother to Google information about it. I assume that everyone has some sort of access to the Internet or or some sort of sexual health org. You can use computers and Wifi at the library. The CDC has a site, Planned Parenthood is great and Wikipedia is good. I learned about HIV by reading. I'm on PrEP and have had a sexual partner who is HIV positive. It doesn't scare me at all. You just arm yourself with information and make the best choices you can. People with HIV aren't something to be feared. They're just people like anyone else.

I get a bunch of bloody cold sores on my mouth all over . Its very painful. But I have medicine, I take it for 5 days then it goes away. For that 5 days I have to stay away from everyone.

My sympathies about the cold sores, but don't they usually resolve in four or five days anyway?

Reminds me of the old joke about the common cold: untreated it'll last maybe seven days, but with proper treatment it should be gone in a week.

The problem is you fear-mongering about it and using bigoted tabloid trash like Jim Goad to poison the discussion. (Even David Duke is more respectable than that woman beating, gutter racist piece of trash, and that's saying something.) The point is that HIV is not a scary issue. It's another chronic illness. It's like scaring people over cancer. These things must be discussed rationally. HIV/AIDS hasn't been a death sentence in over 20 years, and those outdated laws only serve to stigmatize people with it. No other illness is treated the same way. If I have syphilis and don't tell my sexual partner, I'm not going to be locked up for it, so there's something wrong with the laws there.

They are apt to come back. Just remember it is not the end of the world. In about a week they will be gone. Herpes are a mild inconvenience for most.
