They wouldn't be detained if they came through the proper channels.
Oh, you weren't aware of Trump's policy on detention?

"The Trump administration cannot categorically detain asylum seekers while they pursue their cases, a federal judge in Seattle ruled Tuesday, bringing a temporary halt to a policy announced by Attorney General Bill Barr in April.

U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman said those who are detained after crossing the border are entitled to bond hearings. Barr's order had instructed immigration judges to no longer offer the bond hearings for illegal immigrants caught crossing the border, although Barr preserved the option for the DOJ to effectively offer exceptions on a case-by-case basis."

Well they did get caught breaking the law.
Did they? Or were they just a victim of Trump's policies?

Some people do not understand that going into a country w/o papers seeking asylum does not make them "illegal" under both international and U.S. federal law. It would only be illegal if they were processed and not allowed in but came in anyway.

Most people coming to our southern border involves families with children, and yet I fail to see any compassion for these people by a few people here at Religious Forums.com. Maybe they could feel more at home if they can find a website called "Uncaring Forums.com"?

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
Exodus 22:21 “You shall not wrong or oppress a resident alien; for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.”

Deuteronomy 24:14-15 You shall not oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or a foreigner residing in your cities. You will pay his wages on that day, before the sun sets (for he is poor and needs the money), lest he cry out against you to the Lord, and you are guilty of sin.

Deuteronomy 1:16 Give the members of your community a fair hearing, and judge rightly between one person and another, whether citizen or resident alien.

Leviticus 19:34 The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the foreigner as yourself, for you were foreign in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

Leviticus 25:35 If any of your people become poor and unable to support themselves among you, help them as you would a foreigner or stranger, so they may continue to live among you.

Leviticus Deuteronomy 27:19 Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow.

Zechariah 7:9-11 This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’

Jeremiah 22:3 Thus says the Lord: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.

Malachi 3:5-6 "I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers, and perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive the foreigners among you of justice, but do not fear me,” says the Lord Almighty.

Ezekiel 47:22 You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners who reside among you and have begotten children among you. They shall be to you as citizens of Israel; with you they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.

Job 29:15-17 I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame. I was a father to the needy, and I championed the cause of the stranger. I broke the fangs of the unrighteous, and made them drop their prey from their teeth.

Matthew 25:35 I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.

Migrant kids in Yuma report sex assault, retaliation from U.S. agents

A 15-year-old girl from Honduras described a large, bearded officer putting his hands inside her bra, pulling down her underwear and groping her as part of what was meant to be a routine pat down in front of other immigrants and officers.

The girl said "she felt embarrassed as the officer was speaking in English to other officers and laughing" ”

If this was your daughter ....

IF this is true. You are assuming it is.
Why? Ideology?

The "in front of others, and laughing"
does not ring true.

If it is true, let us by all means proceed
with prosecution.

This below was reported around the world,
and assumed to be true by the media
and of course, the ideologs.

Yep, let's just handwave all inconvenient reports of sexual assault! Much easier that way! We can cherry pick the tiny number of false reports as justification!

You can be detained indefinitely though, in squalid inhumane conditions, as we are seeing.

They can leave at any moment they chose should they promise to return to Mexico where the Mexican govt has already offered them Asylum and they have refused and chosen to stay detained in America instead.

You are talking about children who have been separated from their parents and locked up in horrible inhumane conditions.

Sucks, but if their parents had came through a recognized port of entry and tried to come here legally it wouldn't have happened to begin with.

Well, first of all, they are children so your suggestion is absurd.
Secondly, many of the kids being detained actually have relatives living in the US who are willing to take them. The Trump administration will not release them to those relatives.Oh, and then there's that whole thing where they lost a bunch of the kids.
Thirdly, they are in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and cannot leave "at any moment." That would actually be a crime.

Bottom line: There is no excuse whatsoever to treat children so inhumanely. None.

Not all children. The adults can leave at anytime they want though. The children's parent have to be tracked down and verified to release the children to them.

Secondly, many of the kids being detained actually have relatives living in the US who are willing to take them.

Not our problem.

The Trump administration will not release them to those relatives.

We can't, legally.

Bottom line: There is no excuse whatsoever to treat children so inhumanely. None.

They are not being treated inhumanely.

Ah, so it's the parents fault that the US Government is treating their children so inhumanely. Riiiiight.

Yes, had the parent immigrated legally through a recognized port of entry, they would not be detained. Simple as that.
