Lies and Phony Caricatures of Christianity

Skanky Old Mongrel!
On the up side I am a straight white male so all of those could be pluses for me. On the down side they hate atheists as much as anyone else so I would still be in trouble.
Wot!?
An Afeeist? Devil's spawn!
If they get big...... Hide! Or, alternatively, carry a very big bible around and offer blessings to all as you pass by.

Oh well: What a friend we have in cheeeses.... At least that is the way I remember that hymn.
Ah yes...... the kid next to me at morning prayers:-
Arfarva, wot lives in 'eaven.....
Hello! .... be vy name.

I'll never forget Paul G.

This is otherwise known as “The ‘Nuh-uh!’ Fallacy,” learned on second-grade playgrounds all over the world.
Yes. And these factless assertions have been the only 'arguments given.. except for blatant distortions, presented as 'error!'
One does not need to be omnipotent to know that Genesis is wrong.
How then do you 'know!' this? Intuition? You creatainly have no facts, just contrary opinions and belief, presented as fact.
Almost all of the wars in Europe in the middle ages. That is a gimme since Christianity was universal.'
Asserting 'all these wars were caused by Christianity!', is an unbased assertion. You have no evidence for this smear. It is your belief, from years of anti-christian Indoctrination.
I have to admit, it does begin to look as if you might be a fanatical fundamentalist, and if there were enough of those to gain power anywhere, the changes in laws and controls would be more than worrying. They would be terrifying for so many decent folks, you know.
And because you have not proselytized or evangelised to any here this could mean that you are a predestination 'Christian'? A kind of closed-shop 'Christian'? Hmmmm.
Don't try and hide behind the high % Christians who are loving and humanitarian, matey.
You shout out your stuff and there's nothing there to back it up, is all.
And if yours is the face of true Christianity then I can only see it dwindling as the 21st century continues.
Fundy Christianity is Phony Christianity, because you don't actually follow what Jesus said and did, imo.
Yes, keep pounding the anti-christian propaganda drum. Perhaps you can demonize all who follow Jesus and historical Christianity. ..maybe even get them cleansed or eliminated some day!

You have no evidence to paint me with this ad hom smear, it is a fallacy for an impotent debater, who has no facts, reason, or arguments.

It is part of the Proggy Hop, to defect from any real examination of evidence, to keep the narratives going, for these hateful, denying, evil xtians!
The above sent to another........
Can you imagine what it would be like to live in a land that was controlled by these little darlings?
Can you imagine what their laws, controls and punishments would be?
Even slavery could return because Paul supported it.
Women would lose self-determination.
Equality for all would be thrown to the winds.
A balanced society where protection exists for any race, creed, religion, colour, gender, marital status, sexuality, disability, nationality would be utterly trashed.
And once they have given you a stench, and the evil mark, and dehumanised you, they could feel self justification in anything that they would do, methinks.
Ah good. A dogpile of fear mongering, to scapegoat the evil xtians..

You really think these phony caricatures are 'reason!'?
On the up side I am a straight white male so all of those could be pluses for me. On the down side they hate atheists as much as anyone else so I would still be in trouble.
Oh well: What a friend we have in cheeeses.... At least that is the way I remember that hymn.
Good plan.. toss in some ridicule for the demonized caricatures you've created!

Nothing dehumanizes the enemy like some good mocking and ridicule! :D
1 Peter 2:18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.
Ephesians 6:5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear
You think theses verses prove that xtianity was responsible for slavery? You proof text these to support your accusation of:
1. Christianity is responsible for most of the atrocities of humanity.
1. Slavery had been around a lot longer.. it did not start when Christ was born.
2. Paul gave instructions to some, to live and serve God, in whatever situation they are in. But he also encourages slaves to seek their freedom, if they can.. hardly a compelling argument thst 'Christianity caused slavery!!'

1Cor7:17Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches. 18Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called? He should not be circumcised. 19Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts. 20Each person should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.
21Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so. 22For the one who was a slave when called to faith in the Lord is the Lord’s freed person; similarly, the one who was free when called is Christ’s slave. 23You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings. 24Brothers and sisters, each person, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.
And so Mary was pregnant for ten long years. !!!
Asserted without evidence. This is not established history, but a prejudicial belief. Pitching beliefs as fact is a common problem, among progressive indoctrinees .
But early bibles did not include 'the Son of God'.
See above. You assert this without evidence.

The FACT is, we don't know which variants were the right ones. Precedence is given to older manuscripts and fragments, with the assumption that any typos, or variants would have shown up later. Biblical scholars have erred on the side of caution, by including all variants that have credibility and a possibility of being copies of the originals. Most bible translations have footnotes, for those variants.

But variants are not 'errors!' They could be many things, INCLUDING an attempt to edit the originals with personal commentary. Many apocryphal texts have been omitted from the canon of scripture for this very reason.

The bottom line, is the manuscripts are true to the originals. All real evidence affirms their authenticity. You can refer to a variant, when studying abook or passage, but they do not change the original exegesis of the author's work. Some have, in the past. Marcion's edits were roundly condemned as heretical, before an approved canon was even established. He was likely the motivation to organize the canon, which has remained constant to this day.
(Rebels to truth will be cursed}
This proves,
5. Christianity is an opiate for humanity, squashing free expression.
??
Shirley, everyone can see the absurdity of this alleged proof..
Was Jesus a Tecton, a Nagarra or a Magi?
These words can all mean the same thing.
so you assert, and it does not support your claim of, 'the bible can mean whatever anyone wants!'
No.......... but Fundy Christians hope for one.
Ad hom demonizing of ideological enemies. Goebbels would be impressed.
Romans {6:14} ................ for ye (Christians) are not under the law, but under grace.
Really? You quote a text that supports EXACTLY my point of a false narrative:
8. Christianity is an ideology of oppression, mandating conformity and submission to elites.
FREEDOM, not blind submission and obeisance to elites, is the Way of Christianity.
1 Timothy {1:3} ...............that thou mightest charge some that
they teach no other doctrine, {1:4} Neither give heed to
fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions,
rather than godly edifying which is in faith
You err, knowing neither the scriptures, nor the Power of God.

Quoting random, unrelated passages to prove some false accusation is beyond Proggy Hopping, and becomes ludicrous.

Reason. It are hard, for progressive indoctrinees..

False narratives about Christianity abound, in the public discourse. I started this thread to expose and discuss them, but most do not want to address facts, or history, but just continue to pound the drum of anti-christian propaganda.

Why is that?

IMO, it is because of the growth of Progressivism, as a competing worldview. It is a competing religious belief, about the nature of the universe, and the usual human practice of religious bigotry is used, to promote THEIR beliefs, while demeaning the competition.

Those immersed in Progressivism are typically anti-christian, with knee jerk hostility AND false narratives that demean and disparage Christianity and Christians, personally. The widespread increase of anti-christian reviling, mocking, and ridicule is evidence of this observation.

Abolitionism, women's suffrage, civil rights, and even prohibition were almost extreme in their religious roots and motivations.. this was Christian based 'religion', not the johnny-come-lately liberal/progressive hijack.

Read speeches from real abolitionists, leaders, and politicians of the times. These were not anti-christian skeptics, or militant atheists, spewing hostility toward Jesus and the bible.

Not all involved were bible thumping 'Christians!', but they used Christian language, arguments, assumptions, and were sympathetic to Christianity. Even Lincoln, a nonbeliever, was considered by many to be a Christian because of his religious language.

A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education. ~Theodore Roosevelt

I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from The Savior of the world is communicated to us through this Book. ~Abraham Lincoln

As to Jesus of Nazareth, my opinion of whom you particularly desire, I think the system of morals and His religion as He left them to us, the best the world ever saw or is likely to see. ~Benjamin Franklin

The practice of morality being necessary for the well being of society, He [God] has taken care to impress its precepts so indelibly on our hearts that they shall not be effaced by the subtleties of our brain. We all agree in the obligation of the moral principles of Jesus and nowhere will they be found delivered in greater purity than in His discourses. ~Thomas Jefferson

I picked thes quotes for a reason.. perhaps none of these famous, influential Americans were Christians, but they saw the wisdom and virtue of biblical precepts as positives for a society, and were admirers of the bible and Christianity, as a beacon of Truth, Freedom, and Civilization.

Contrast that now, to the anti-christian sentiment that pervades the culture. Instead of esteeming the bible, Jesus, and Christian principles, they are mocked, distorted, caricatured, and despised.

America is in the grip of post Christian decline, and the departure from the principles upon which She was founded has not been a positive for society.

The fact is, the American Founders were ALL, to a man, sympathetic to, respectful of, and held in high esteem, the bible and Jesus.. the basis of Christianity.

Those who try to paint them as irreligious skeptics, hostile to Christianity, the bible, or Jesus, are distorting history, and promoting a lie.. a phony narrative. The source of this lie is revisionism from progressive institutions, pounded as a propaganda meme until the hapless pupils surrender their critical thinking abilities, and fall in line with the other bobbleheaded indoctrinees.

Very few escape this Indoctrination from a competing ideology, out to smear Christianity for their own agenda

No, you could not be more wrong. I have offered to discuss this with you multiple times. You keep running away. But I will post some educational videos for you since you do not seem to want to have a discussion.

Asserting 'all these wars were caused by Christianity!', is an unbased assertion. You have no evidence for this smear. It is your belief, from years of anti-christian Indoctrination.

This is a problem when you quote the way that you do. You asked for "Christians" If you had quoted me properly, instead of an out context snippet then your error would have been obvious to all. The War of the Roses and almost every other war in most of Europe's history were started by Christians. In fact they were usually Christian against Christian wars. Most of the crusades were also wars started by Christians, but these were Christian against Muslim wars. "Christianity" itself cannot start wars. Just as "Islam" cannot start wars. It is a belief. Wars can only be started by those that have a particular belief.

Good plan.. toss in some ridicule for the demonized caricatures you've created!

Nothing dehumanizes the enemy like some good mocking and ridicule! :D

Now you are being hypocritical. You went out of your way to earn "mocking". And I did not make any "demonized caricatures" you cannot name one. When a person posts nonsense and ignorance, refuses to discuss it properly. And runs away from any evidence posted of any kind then he deserves a bit of mockery and ridicule.

Exactly. That is the narrative, asserted without evidence.

Wars are started by humans.. despots, usually, with greedy ambition. If you are going to link normal human aggression from despots with 'Christianity!', you have to show the logical connection, not just smear by association.

Really, i don't mind being a scapegoat for the anti-christian beliefs that are so prevalent here. You can blame me, personally, or blame xtianity, which you think is the cause of all the evil in the world.

Either way, you lack evidence, and just have trumped up caricatures.. strawmen.. to fearmonger with.

But i contend these caricatures are hostile and unevidenced smears, from a competing ideology. These caricatures have been pounded as 'truth!' for so long, and from EVERY progressive dominated institution, that evidence and critical thinking are discarded, in favor of believing the narratives.

It is the essence of propaganda, and the end results are clearly seen. Revisionism, distortions, and a constant barrage of propaganda overwhelm any singular voices of Truth, and the Narrative lives on, nodded at approvingly by the indoctrinees.

I'm not happy about it. And this exposè is not a fun look at the direction of western civilization. But it is a symptom of the death of Reason, due process, and evidentiary based thinking. It is a tragedy for humanity, to twist the Ideology that brought freedom, self rule, human equality, and Enlightenment principles to mankind. A return to the dark ages, with mandated belief, indoctrinated 'truth', and unwavering homogeneity with no dissension is the direction we are being driven.

"New Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Church Calls For Capital Punishment for All LGBTQ+

June 11, 2019 — Several congregations from the New Independent Fundementalist Baptist Church (the NIFB) will host their “Make America Straight Again” conference at the location and on the anniversary of the PULSE Nightclub shooting.

With plans to convene at Revival Baptist Church (320 US-27 Clermont Florida)
on June 14-16, the organizers of the conference have been secretive regarding their exact itinerary, however they are clear on the reason for their chosen dates. The NIFB are vocal proponents for not only bigotry against and marginalization of the LGBTQ+ community, but also for government-enacted capital punishment of its members.
For this reason they have chosen to hold their conference in Orlando during Pride month on the Anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting to not only publicly celebrate the anniversary of the tragic deaths of the 49 people who lost their lives that weekend, but to advocate for more.

I'm a Progressive. I'm still really sympathetic toward the subject matter and also, the Original Poster. Though if they keep tossing around terms like "Progressive indoctrinees", which is really kind of a smear, there may come a point when they are on their own. To me, it seems to be a stealth issue of morality, of "Are Progressives moral and intellectually honest?" Personally, I think they are.

So... I’m guessing you’re not going to prove your assertions, then. Too bad. It could have been an honest, fruitful and fun debate.

The FACT is, we don't know which variants were the right ones. Precedence is given to older manuscripts and fragments, with the assumption that any typos, or variants would have shown up later. Biblical scholars have erred on the side of caution, by including all variants that have credibility and a possibility of being copies of the originals. This right here is the most honest, valid, clear-headed argument you’ve made so far.

And I disagree. Here’s why:

Variants aren’t errors, but they DO show where the texts have been changed, through editing, redacting, and adding. It shows that the texts have, in fact, changed over time, which effectively refutes one of your original points.
