Did you know the Moon is part of Mars? According to Derpy Donny Dollhands it is!

"For all of the money we are spending, NASA should NOT be talking about going to the Moon - We did that 50 years ago. They should be focused on the much bigger things we are doing, including Mars (of which the Moon is a part), Defense and Science!"

In context it's talking about "bigger things we are doing" so going to the Moon is a part of going to Mars.

At least that's how I would interpret it as you need to give the speaker/writer the benefit of the doubt. Modern discourse relies far too much on people interpreting the words of those they don't like with bad faith, giving them the most negative spin possible and then using them as a weapon.

Everyone hates it when other people interpret their words with bad faith, or it is done to people they like. As such everyone, especially your 'enemies', should be given the benefit of the doubt if alternative interpretations are plausible.

The way this has been reported in certain media outlets doesn't reflect well on the state of modern journalism.

I keenly await the imminent ad hoc spin by the resident trumpettes to try to make this anything but the ravings of an ignorant madman.

All it is, is proof of how liberals hate Trump so much they purposefully take him out of context. Little do they know they only make themselves look...well not good. Here's the tweet for context.

Trump it talking about we should not be focusing on solely returning to the moon. But that we should focus a plan on how to get to Mars, and that the Moon is part of that plan. He is suggesting a Moon base to launch Mars missions from. We recently had a conversation about this very thing in the science forums a few weeks ago. Here: Provide me a one single benefit of going on moon ?

Its both funny, sad and scary at the same time. This guy is like a train out of control, I have to say I feel sorry for the Americans that he is representing you in the world.

Except he didnt say that, because he said no to the moon because its already been done.

Will his supporters in turn admit Trump has crap grammar skills if that is what he meant?

Under my Administration, we are restoring @NASA to greatness and we are going back to the Moon, then Mars. I am updating my budget to include an additional $1.6 billion so that we can return to Space in a BIG WAY!

I think that is also why people are fairly confused. He just tweets like a maniac without any thoughts behind what he is saying.

No way, man. His speech is just so revolutionary, it's from the year 2100 when people have evolved to have two separate brains.

i.e instead of talking about going to Moon frame it as part of a larger mission to Mars.

He saying exactly what I said in my first post.

That we shouldn't be concentrating solely on just going back to the Moon. But we should focus on a plan for going to Mars, which means going to the Moon is part of that plan.

He is not speaking in parables. With an open objective mind his Tweet was clear to me.

I do actually think you are right and that is what he means, but he is the President and he is tweeting like he is some kind of teenager. He makes freaking George bush junior sound smart.

He didnt say that though. The way its worded, it looks like he's saying the moon is a part of Mars.

It definitely could be interpreted that way, but it's almost certainly not what he meant.

That's why you read things with good faith and give them the benefit of the doubt.

What he said was fine. It's called confirmation bias. It's when you look for info that confirms your bias. So the people that hate Trump will always take issue with what he says. And like these lefty "journalist" and other people took his quote out of context and only posted half of it to manipulate what he said into something completely different.

If I did that here. Say I quoted Shadow Wolf above from a different thread. Then brought it here, posted it out of context, and even took some of what she said out of the quote to distort it further. That is against the rules of this forum.

So why would anyone think it's ok to do to a public figure on a public stage? Its immortal and dishonest.
