TW: Three Kingdoms announced!

Do we have any Dynasty Warriors or Romance of the Three Kingdoms fans in?

This trailer was put up on Youtube and it seems pretty legit. I'm so unbelievably excited for this!

The video itself gives the nod to so many bits of lore I'm just in love with it. The peach garden oath, Dong Zhuo & Lu Bu, the presence of who I suspect is Gongsun Zan ordering Liu Bei to engage Lu Bu in battle, the use of the first couple of lines from the play: "The Empire, long divided, must unite! The Empire, long united, must divide!". Guuh - amazing! :D

Even the song being sung in the background is apparently a poem written by a soldier who fought for the Han just before the events surrounding the dynasty's ultimate fall.

I was a huge fan of the original Romance of the Three Kingdoms back in the day. I loved the first Total War game as well. But I have kind of fallen away from the genre. I bought Total War: Shogun a few years back when it came out, and played a lot of it. But it was darn near impossible, even on easy settings, so I kind of just lost interest (The AI kept breaking treaties with my kingdom, this is a part of the game but why put treaties in at all if they don't work).

I saw that and I"m pretty excited about it. But I'll need a better computer for it.

I do see where you're coming from. The thing about treaties is they're only a temporary measure and the amount of attention your clan attracts increases proportionately with size & strength. It was kind of bull**** that every clan no matter how badly they hated each other would gang up against you when Realm Divide hit but fortunately some of the community modded it out or at least lowered the effect so you didn't become the most hated clan for doing what literally everyone else was trying to do anyway. Whether or not you got stabbed in the back depended on how trustworthy your treaty partners were too.

Have you ever played Rise of Three Kingdoms: Total War? It's like this game but an unofficial mod for Medieval 2 Kingdoms. It is great fun.

I have been waiting for this very setting since Shogun 1. It is about time! The AI is still going to be horrible.

I wonder if the development will incorporate any systems from the Koei games, books and TV series; food, logistics, camps, population, navy (Wu). Those seems important for the setting in my opinion. Shu had food supply and population issues. Wu used it's naval superiority to hold off Wei. Wei turned green around water. The recent TW games have removed or trivialized those factors.

The Hero/General system seems set as per WH1/2. I will need to find a bridge for Zhang Fei and spam "Shout" for an easy win. Also raze anything related to wine. Liu Bei's buff to fleeing and sandals will be well used.
