What is wrong with those people that believe their book is eternal truth?

MD

A book in which each word is true, and from God. A book that is true for all time, even a zillion years from now. Filled with myths and inaccuracies and stories of half men/half horse taxis to heaven. And still in Arabic, always to be in Arabic. Whose author was supposedly illiterate and whose guidelines on how to live life were written centuries after his death. And of course, the virgins.

And if you disagree with this eternal book in some countries you're jailed or executed, in other countries you're called 'racist' by liberals even if you share the same 'race' as the majority of the adherents.

So tell me, what is wrong with that? The great prophet Hitchens (greatness be upon him) said that there's nothing great with, and that it's bull****. Was he wrong?

Please, regards.

Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with it. Most the people on this planet believe the sun rises in the east instead of the earth is spinning towards the sun. They simply aren't seeing the whole picture, but there's nothing wrong with that. Most of us don't see the whole picture. The universe and the thousands of beings and lifeforms within it are in a perfect state ... of evolution. It's all His dance.

I Don't think he was wrong.
It might be, that one of the thousands of books out there might represent the truth in a way.
But even so, Even if the book is truth word, what people make of them is nothing but ignorance.

You can find the same "revelations" in any book.
Any children's book has smarts and lessons.
Every book that tells a tale have great truths in it.
Yet people, for some odd reason, decide that the "holy" books are words of a God.
I'll ask you one small question... Why would a God use a Book ????

It isn't about truth but about guidance.

The book is guiding us to the straight path, the path of purity, sincerity,
chastity, honesty, honor and doing the good deeds, that path isn't
suitable for you, the other path that we walk away from is the impurity,
prostitution, infidelity, adultery, drugs and alcohol.

We feel secure and happy in our way of life.

Why would you say that path isn't suitable for me, you know nothing about me.

Unless you think only Muslims can do good deeds?

Also how do you define good? Is it something intrinsic or is it something conditioned? If it's conditioned, what proof do you have your conditioning is truth?

Isn't god supposed to do that, though? Isn't that the other way around? What would you do without the bible?

I think it should be the other way around. Many religions believe in god first without needing a book. Abrahamics are the only ones I know that rely on a book. Many pagan and Pagan religions rely on stories and traditions. Yet, I havent heard any say that they do not know their creator if they do't have their shells with them or drums.

I would think god comes first and then whatever tools people use to learn about him from nature to a book would be second as we can live without these things. If you took away these things, which christian would say they have still have jesus. I havent even heard muslims attach to the Quran in that way. It's mostly an act of prayer and lifestyle.

So, I dont get it really.

Some one made a topic about how Muslims are worshiping the Kabba.

So, I think the best option here is to ask think a pagan person.

Then you missed the point. That thread wasn't saying Islam is a pagan religion - it says Muslims engage in behaviour that is very very close to idolatry; something they vociferously condemn in other faiths.

Each age has its own problems and requires its own unique solution. A panacea for one age is a poison to another so each religion and their Holy Book was only relevant for their age.

But there are 'eternal truths' contained in all Holy Books such as justice, mercy, love and compassion and these will last forever.

However the social laws and teachings were relevant not eternal. We can forever learn and apply the eternal truths that each religion teaches. They never become obsolete.

I have learnt love but also justice and in my mind a lot recently are the eternal truths taught by Zoroaster "good thoughts, good words and good deeds". See how these are eternal truths because no matter how long ago Zoroaster appeared, today, if we applied His Eternal Counsels, we would all be at peace.

There are relevant truths and temporary laws for each age but also there are the eternal truths like what Zoroaster and other Prophets taught.

Some might suggest your book guides you towards close-mindedness and self-righteousness, and that the alternative path is tolerance and personal responsibility.

I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
