Doesn't look like you have anything to say other than whining about how you don't like the way some people write things. Get over yourself.
I will, when you stop being offended over a difference of opinion that you feel others aren't entitled to. Typical "progressive" mentality.

So, kindly stop whining and preferably stop talking to me.

You can have all the difference of opinion you want to. But what you can't do is force others to conform to that opinion.

You're the only one who decided I was forcing anyone. I wasn't. This is clear from even a basic reading of my text -- that is, unless you want to see it that way, which you clearly do.

Hmmm...
"Write it out fully, lazy fingers." is pejorative and a foisting of your POV onto those who don't agree with you.

But you are being lazy if you type it as Xtian or Xian.
It is fine to be lazy if that's what you want.

"Lazy" is a judgment. "Time-expediency" is a goal. I can assure you that I'm NOT " lazy, thank you very much. I've worked too hard and been too successful. Or maybe, all the peer-reviewed scholars who also use the term are also "lazy." Or, maybe anyone who uses St., Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr., Sgt., Lt., Gen., O'clock, Halloween, Christmas, Ave., Blvd., I-70, U.S.A., U.K., plane, mart, store, dept., N.Y., R.R., Rt., F.D., P.D., E.R., O.R., medic, in., ft., yd., gas, alt., fridge, H2O, phone, VCR, tape, DVD, DVR, DAT, vest, AZ, AL, CA, DC, etc., St. Louis, &, @, $, Jim, Jack, Liz, Beth, Frieda, Sal, Ben, Harry, Bob, et. al., A/C, airco, avgas, AC/DC, are also being "lazy."

There are situations where using an abbreviation is justified, and even particularly desirable. There are others where people are just being lazy.
Yes, I can assure you ARE lazy when you type Xtian or Xian. And, yes, this is a judgment. Get over it. This doesn't mean you are lazy when doing something else.

No it's not, because I said in my post it's my opinion. I'm allowed the opinion people should write it out.

So stop making a fuss over nothing because you want something to be bothered about. As I've said many times, I'd rather not continue talking to you whilst you're acting so immature.

I can assure you that you're trying to be provocative and obtuse. I can further assure that it won't work. Once again, for those too lazy and stubborn to pay attention to the words on the page, there's a difference between "lazy" and "time-expediency." Breathe is being whiney about a perfectly legitimate abbreviation, and you don't have a dog in that hunt, other than to doggrel someone for your own amusement. Therefore, It's you who need to "get over" something. I think you'd disagree with me if I stated that the Titanic sunk, just to be contrary.

Sorry -- you're the one who made the fuss. "III don't Liiiiiike iiiiiit!!! Peeeeeople should stoooooop doiiiiiing thaaaaat!!!" I simply called you out on it and you don't like that. Yes, you're allowed an opinion. But the directives you issue need be paid no notice.

Of course there is a difference. On this case it is just laziness.
What provocation? I have already stated it is fine if you want to be lazy. It is fine, really. I don't condemn you for acting lazy. But if you are so bothered about this then stop typing like that.

There is a difference. But you're not informed enough to judge that difference. So instead, your post just ends up looking bullyish.

Actually, no: I simply stated I dislike it. You're taking issue with nothing. You're the one who made the fuss by effectively saying "OMG DON'T THINK DIFFERENTLY TO ME THAT'S OFFENSIVE!". I don't care if you do it, but I think it looks lazy and stupid.

Please inform me how much more efficient you are for not typing a few extra letters. Enlighten me.

Every second helps sometimes. Every less finger-wiggle saves energy. It's not a matter of "I don't wanna" (lazy). It's a matter of "I don't hafta" (efficiency).

Have to agree with what Sojourner's saying here, and it definitely isn't "OMG DON'T THINK DIFFERENTLY TO ME THAT'S OFFENSIVE!"

You've been attacking a bunch of strawmen in your replies, being really quite nasty about stuff that he hasn't actually said. Not impressed.

Nope, I haven't. I've been attempting to finish the discussion many times because I know it's not conductive. Keep your nose out of it.

Not impressed.
I don't care; I'm not impressed with being bothered over people acting butthurt and bothering me.

  1. I stated it was my opinion
  2. I stated it wasn't 'telling people' what to think
  3. I mentioned many times not to continue the discussion
  4. It was carried on
  5. You're getting involved when it has nothing to do with you
  6. I don't care if you don't like it

So please, stop wasting my time.

Edit: I've blocked you both because you're both bugging me with your, quite frankly, pathetic distortions of what I've said over something so trivial to attempt to have something to be offended about. Our discussion terminates here, so please do not attempt to further the discussion.

Good! Maybe we can get on with things without people trying to control what they misapprehend as laziness.

Just for good measure:

Xtian. It's a valid abbreviation, used by most peer-reviewed scholars. Don't like it? Tough.

Why take the o out of God? Because, I am sure you already know, those who do value the word God even on paper and screen so to say His title, name, etc would be disrespect.

Is there any scriptural justification for an alleged general doctrine in Christian monotheism that prohibits writing the word "God" out in full? I'm not aware that God's actual name even is "God." And if we're obliged to leave letters out of His titles ... then (in addition to "G*d") allow me to introduce you to:

1.) The Alm*hty.
2.) Our L*rd And S*vior.
3.) Our L*rd.
4.) The S*vior.
5.) The Great * Am.

And are you suggesting that we bleep God's name out on screen? Like some sort of gutter profanity?

Why make a hissy fit? I value other peoples faiths as well as mine.

Again: Are there any explicit edicts in Christianity that forbid the word "God" from being written out in full? Could you cite them?

And if there are, don't they actually involve his actual name(s)?

blasphemer-e1309369130468.jpg

"You're only making it worse for yourself!"

The word Christian isn't a holy word. The word Christ is.

Don't you mean "Chr*st?" And did Jesus J*s*s ever instruct folks to bowdlerize the spelling of his name? And to do so as a token of respect?

And if "Christian" isn't a holy word, why is "Christmas" a holy word?

Why take the Christ out of Christian? Why out of Christmas?

1.) Some folks are not Christians, and have no problem with abbreviating the name of a holiday as a measure of expediency. These folks did not dream the "X" up, however. It has fallen to us from deep out of Christian tradition:

2.) The Chi Rho is viewed as a symbol of the Christian deity. The Roman Emperor Constantine (see "Saint Constantine") had it slapped all over his army right before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge (claiming that he'd received a vision - presumably from the Christian god - wherein he'd been told "in this sign you will conquer"). So it isn't really disrespectful. At all. Like .. not in the slightest.

If there are (some) Christians getting bent out of shape over our culture's use of "Xmas" in lieu of "Christmas," it's much more likely that:

1.) (some) Christians are evidently ignorant of the historic significance of the "X" as a symbol of their faith. And ...
2.) (some) Christians will seize any opportunity to publicly feel persecuted.

...

And who could blame them?
christians.jpg

It's a complex that'd been infused into their religion's DNA long before Constantine legitimized the faith.

However, I feel no compulsion whatsoever to coddle them in their ignorance.
