I'm curious about "political peace"...

Perhaps you mean that three will be political peace after all the world is ruled by Sharia? Even that seems unlikely based on the last 1400 years of evidence.

'Sharia' for Sunni is different than that of Shia . They shaped their own Sharia laws as per their Hadith books and verdicts of Imam . Even if Sunni want to impose Sharia laws , Shia are the first one to revolt . And the vice-versa .

You are rightly said the chaotic history of Muslim world for last 1400 years is just nothing but a product of this human-shaped Sharia law , imposed by sometimes Shia rulers (Fatmid,pro-Abbasi etc.) or Sunni rulers (Ummayid , Ottoman etc.) .

Hi Ice-horse . I would like to draw your attention to the following verses just to relate the fact that in a scenario of a Muslim ruler ruling a state where so many non-Muslim citizens reside , they should only be given the message of Islam and if they don't accept there shouldn't be any , even not an iota amount of harm be affected upon them .

16:82 But if they turn away from you, your only duty is a clear delivery of the Message

4:79-80 Say: ‘Whatever good betides you is from God and whatever evil betides you is from your own self and that We have sent you to mankind only as a messenger and all sufficing is God as witness. Whoso obeys the Messenger, he indeed obeys God. And for those who turn away, We have not sent you as a keeper."

17:53-54 And tell my servants that they should speak in a most kindly manner. Verily, Satan is always ready to stir up discord between men; for verily; Satan is mans foe.... Hence, we have not sent you with power to determine their Faith
24.54. Say: "Obey God, and obey the Messenger, but if ye turn away, he is only responsible for the duty placed on him and ye for that placed on you. If ye obey him, ye shall be on right guidance. The Messenger's duty is only to preach the clear (Message).

88:21 22; And so, exhort them your task is only to exhort; you cannot compel them to believe.

42:6 48 And whoso takes for patrons others besides God, over them does God keep a watch. Mark, you are not a keeper over them. But if they turn aside from you , for We have not sent you to be a keeper over them; your task is but to preach

39:41 Assuredly, We have sent down the Book to you in right form for the good of man. Whoso guided himself by it does so to his own advantage, and whoso turns away from it does so at his own loss. You certainly are not their keeper.

Peace be upon you.

I believe you mean the lenient not serious messages that give a good feeling. Some verses that teach and give us rules on how to defend ourselves for example are not lenient but serious and give us a really intense feeling yet I believe they are positive!

Here goes:

1- Chapter 60, verse 8:
God does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, God loves those who act justly. This covers all people no matter what their beliefs are.

2- Chapter 29, verse 46:
And do not argue with the People of the Scripture (people of the book, the Christians and Jews) except with the best of manners, except for those who commit injustice among them (something universal that applies also to Muslims), and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we all submit to Him. This is about peace specifically with Christians and Jews.

3- Chapter 17, verses 23&24 in peace with parents:
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to treat your parents with kindness. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them "uff" (or similar, a nagging sound) and do not repel them but speak to them kindly. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] little.

4- Chapter 16, verse 90:
God orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.

5- Chapter 24, Verses 27 and 28:
O you who have believed, do not enter houses other than your own houses until you ascertain welcome and greet their inhabitants. That is best for you; thus you are reminded.
And if you do not find anyone therein, do not enter them until permission has been given you. And if it is said to you, "Go back," then go back; it is purer for you. God is Knowing of what you do.

6- Chapter 16, Verse 91:
And fulfill the covenant of God when you have taken it, and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made God , over you, a witness. God knows what you do.

7- Chapter 16, Verse 125:
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is good. Your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.

8- Chapter 16, Verse 126:
And if you punish [an enemy, O believers], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed. But if you are patient - it is better for those who are patient (which is a recommendation to forgive).

Actually, the Quraan is full of such verses, but some people prefer to destructively criticize on first priority for some reason. I chose to not beef up this post so it is easier and more appealing to the reader!

Peace and love to all :)

So I'm asking Muslims to share the core, positive messages they've learned from the Quran - in their own words!

There is a verse in the Quran that asks men who are disappointed with their wives not to despair, because the latter may have some good in them that the former may not know. Although divorce is allowed it is despised by God. And suppose your deeds made yo go to the lower heaven and your family higher, then God will shift you to theirs! Adam was blamed more than Eve for eating the forbidden fruit. Human beings are the best creation, but before coming to Earth they were made lowest of the low. I am too lazy to quote the exact verses, so someone please do it for me. Besides you asked us to write in our own words. But please, don't think that these are interpretations. They have been written clear cut.

Commonalities between Jews and Muslims? Jews are now attacking Christians in Israel in the name of religion. Besides which, if you read that Bible and know that Jesus came to fulfill the law, you have to pay attention to Leviticus knowing it's one of the five books of Moses. So those who attack Muslims on a religious basis should also attack Jews and Christians for what is in the Bible.

I'm also reminded of some of the wisest words I've ever read about what people find in scripture. And that is the words of Abraham Lincoln when speaking of how both the North and South found opposite messages about slavery in the Bible:
Both read the same Bible and pray to the same God, and each invokes His aid against the other. It may seem strange that any men should dare to ask a just God's assistance in wringing their bread from the sweat of other men's faces, but let us judge not, that we be not judged. The prayers of both could not be answered. That of neither has been answered fully. The Almighty has His own purposes. "Woe unto the world because of offenses; for it must needs be that offenses come, but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh."

People can always justify their beliefs by how they interpret scripture, but that can be far from how it should be done. I'm not sure if this Hadith is considered strong or weak by any group of Muslims, but when I read the following it spoke volumes to me:
The time is near in which nothing will remain of Islam but its name, and of the Kuran but its mere appearance, and the mosques of Muslims will be destitute of of knowledge and worship; and the learned will be the worst people under the heavens; and contention and strife will issue from them, and it will return upon themselves.
...
Ye follower of Muhammad, I swear by the Lord, if ye did but know what I know of the future state, verily ye would laugh little and cry much.
...
Men will be liars towards the end of the world; and will relate such stories as neither you nor your fathers ever heard. Then avoid them, that they may not lead you astray and throw you into contention and strife.

Another and separate point. Muslims are clear that the Quran needs to be read in Arabic. There are certain suras that illustrate this perfectly. My favorite is 17:104. Depending on the translation you read, someone can claim that the state of Israel exists because of the will of Allah. Go to WebQT - ©2003 Submission.org put in 17:104 and click on all 6 translations. They don't agree on the tense, future or past, nor do the meanings say the same thing.

This should give people who quote translations pause.

Hi sunrise123 -

We might all agree *intellectually* that the Quran can be understood only in ancient Arabic. But in 2014, in practical terms that leaves the world with quite a dilemma. Because almost no one can read and understand ancient Arabic. And as we see, Muslims all over the world - for the last 1400 years, and right up to today - hold widely varied interpretations of the book.

This is why I'm asking Muslims to share - in their own words - what peaceful messages they learned from the Quran. I'm interested in understanding the practical realities of 2014.

Fair enough. It's important to know about people's beliefs.

DawudTalut

Peace be upon you.
This just talk ---
The issue is not a greeting on the way -
The issue is whether Islamic thought believe in peace

Peace be on you.

Islamic thought , The Holy Quran, starts with introduction of a Being, Allah Whose major attributes are:

Chapter 1, Verse 1:

001-001.png

[1:1] In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

001-002.png

[1:2] All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds,

001-003.png

[1:3] The Gracious, the Merciful,

001-004.png

[1:4] Master of the Day of Judgment.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be on him) of Islam is:

021-108.png

[25:57] And We have sent thee not but as a mercy for all peoples.

When Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) came. What message he brought?.......All he said that believe in One God and pay human rights.

This upset the powerful people because when Unity of God is forgotten, various mafias are developed, ranging from pseudo-clergies (which act as demi-gods) of existing corrupted religions to pleasure-mafia. This had happened too with Hazrat Moses and Hazrat Jesus (on them be peace)

Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) had prophesied about the happenings after him. He told that:

i=Prophethood shall remain among you as long as Allah shall will. He will bring about its end and

ii=Follow it with Khilafat on the precepts of prophethood for as long as He shall will and then bring about its end.

iii=A tyrannical monarchy will then follow and will remain as long as Allah shall will and then come to an end.

iv=There will follow thereafter monarchical despotism to last as long as Allah shall will and come to an end upon His decree.

v=There will then emerge Khilafat (Successorship) on the precept of Prophethood. Then he did not say more.

(Ref: Narrater: Companion Huziafah (r.a): Musnad Ahmad, Mishkaat)

It will be wrong to judge Islam in its weaker time (as era # iii and era # iv, as mentioned above). It will be like judging real Judaism and real Christianity brought by Hazrat Moses and Hazrat Jesus (on them be peace) with respect to those adherents of these religions who do not practice their true teaching.

For Ahmadiyya Muslim, era # v has begun -- the era of peaceful reforms. (alislam.org)

You will find many of your answers in Arabic in http://new.islamahmadiyya.net/

Welcome.

DawudTalut, your posts and references to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community reminds me that there is no one "Islam" and no one interpretation of the Quran and Hadith just like there is no one Christianity or Jewdaism. Could you take a look at Ahmadiyya - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and let me know if you find the discussion of your beliefs as presented in that article accurate?

As time passes after the basic Prophet, his religion is interpreted differently. Schism continues to rise. But if God wants revival for his religion back to original, God appoints Promised Reformer for the cause, who comes as Judge under Divine guidance. One of the prominent role of Promised Messiah in Islam is to come as “Hakam and Adal " i.e Arbitar and Judge [Bukhari]......Thus the true teaching of the basic Prophet is one which is explained by Divinely appointed reformer.

It is right. Maybe more explanation is needed at places.

However, In "4.2.1 Attacks against" section, 1953, 1974, 1995 should be 1953, 1974, 1985

Hi DawudTalut,

Can you offer peaceful messages that you learned from the scripture *in your own words* - i.e., without quoting from scripture?
