Do people actually believe in this? And if so..should we start taking hospitals down and start the production of more churches??

Jesus didn't supplant physicians.

Not sure i would agree, but in a different context then you think.

he was offering the best free health care he could give, because most of these oppresed poor poverty striken residents of Galilee could never afford a real physician

He probably never had to treat a rich person

Why would one necessarily mean the other anyway? For the most part alternative methods/faith healings are not meant to completely replace established medical practices anyway. Just give other avenues to try.

Faith Healing can work, and as mentioned previously this is due to the placebo effect.

The one thing nobody ever mentions is why the placebo effect works. The placebo effect is simply "tricking" the brain into using some of its advanced abilities to heal the body. There are many abilities that people have and don't knowingly ever use. Advanced healing is just one of those abilities often refered to as "miracles" by the religious community. Note: Although the placebo effect can work, there is the equal and opposite anti-placebo effect that can work as well.

Should hospitals be taken down, the answer is no as the placebo effect (or faith healing) is far from dependable and subject to the effects of the anti-placebo effect.

I've seen similar questions asked with no real answer. It would seem that if faith is great enough, it can do anything. Which includes healing the sick. Yet, many christians are quick to visit the hospital when they're sick.
That shows a lack of faith in their deity.

But that is just not true. Many people have died because they relied solely on their faith.

Agree with the above.

Also, it would be fairly ridiculous to expect it to heal everything. There are some things that only modern medicine can assist with for the most part, as much as I detest modern medicine.

Faith actually doesn't heal anything. It simply tricks the mind into healing the body. The same effect can be done using a placebo or even a witch doctor as long as the person administering such treatments is convincing to the person being treated. (and there are not too many nay sayers to undermine the effect)
