If you can read the posts by Gadfly, then you can understand that is almost impossible not to ridicule them.
Your reference to me was unnecessary and in poor taste of a true voice of reasoning. You are still suffering from fly bites. Take a lot of Aristotelean logic and it will eventually lead you to being a gentleman and scholar.

like Gadfly, you are unable to distinguish between the two positions. This is born of either ignorance, or a lack of intellectual curiosity on your part. Regardless of the reason, I will not engage your lack of understanding.
Well, before you dismiss the GadFly, just remember you had every chance to engage me in previous post on this thread and you chose to cling to your out house terminology in place of honest intellectual debate. You are going to have to pick up your level of ethical debate if you are to engage Rolling Stone and the GadFly.

Oh, I see it quite clearly. But have you noticed that atheistic (and agnostic) aguments all point to idea-content of religion as though they were the same as the religion iteslf? The divide is a matter of degree: the life of a stone versus the life of a flower.
I have in fact noticed that tendency and have tried to address it when I see it. But have you noticed that all your arguments (at least in this thread) point to the arguments made by some atheists as though they were the same as atheism itself? Everything that you are accusing atheists of doing you are doing yourself. The divide is not so much a matter of degree as it is a matter of perspective, but neither the theist nor the atheist needs be limited by the metaphors they choose. The irony is that in trying to enforce a limit on atheists (which you cannot do) you succeed only in limited your own perspective.

Gadlfy and Rolling Stone -

This is what a theist with a brain looks like. You would do well to learn what it means to carry a conversation without going off the deep end.

While Scott and I often disagree on items of religion, we can still carry on a polite discourse, based on mutual respect.
I can not say anything about Scott since we have never met or engaged. But you The Voice of Reason I have never received a post that was not rude and illogical in some way. You have yet to challenge any of my ideas that I am aware. Are you addicted to an out house philosophical debate where we sling stuff at each other? Play like you were in a fantasy world of gentlemen and be nice.

Look, the Monitors and Staff here on the RF always say to attack the person's ideas and not the person. Would you please leave the crap in the out house and debate the issues without the stink. That is not intellectual. When you greet another person, be nice. If you truly want to play intellectual, be nice.

Actually, the "load of crap" comment was addressing the argument and not the person. It might not have been the nicest way of saying it, but that doesn't mean it's not true, and that doesn't mean it's automatically a personal attack.

I would advise you to take your own advice, especially the last two sentences.

No it is not.

Great debate tactic. It's hard for me to comprehend that you would actually think that any philosophy book would give "absolute truth" as the definition for "God" or vice versa. If you could give me a reference, I'd be much more inclined to give your assertion any more respect.

My dear Gadfly, haven't you noticed there's a double standard?

Yes, your own posts serve as perfect examples of this. You are very educational, just not in the way you'd like to be.

what I find the most comical thus far is Gadfly accusing others of illogical posts....

The biggest problem with atheism is that all atheist are immoral baby eaters who like to run over old ladys in their spare time. They also think it is fun to steal children's toys.

based upon a reading of this here thread, I have to conclude that the biggest problem with atheism is listening to theist nonsense about atheism.

Why is that a problem?

And you forgot the fact that they're illogical and stupid.

Simple logic, indeed. A load of dung is also very easy to spot.
What is it with you and this dung stuff and out house philosophy? You are beginning to attract attention to yourself with this reference to body waste. Surely with all your intellectual training you can come up with a better vocabulary. But if you like s***, what can we say? Go for it.

You desperately need some classes in good manners.

I don't think you get it. The original post of this thread was asking "what do you think is wrong with atheism". Now, with that as a starting point, it should have been VERY obvious that you were going to be commenting on the belief system that many of the members of this forum embrace.

Immediately, you might have considered being overly concsious of that fact, but instead, you chose to be confrontational, by speaking of things like "atheist logic". When several people tried to discuss the fallacies in your points, you both became defensive, and instantly began insulting atheists. Both of you included me in your attacks, even though I clearly state that I am an agnostic.

Neither of you have demonstrated the ability to even grasp the differences between agnosticism and atheism, so I (de facto) became the point of several of your posts.

If I were to go on the thread titled "What is wrong with theists", and began making statments about how Mormons, Muslims, Christians, Jews, and Satanists were all alike, I think even you might be able to see the error of my ways.
Let's say (for the sake of the argument) that I began making absurd statements such as "Theists can't think straight because they all think Satan is the answer". Would that offend you? How many times would you try to help me to understand that there is a difference between Judaism and Chrisitianity? If I continued (ad nauseum) to make ignorant statements about theists, do you think that at some point, you would take offense?

You (and Rolling Stone) have been told more than a few times that you are misunderstanding and misrepresenting the differences between agnosticism and atheism, as well as the fact that not all atheists see all issues the same. In spite of this, you both insist on continuing to pontificate on issues on which you have clearly demonstrated substantial (if not total) ignorance.

If you want me to "be nice" then learn to listen. If you want me to be nice, then take the time to understand what it means when you are told that you are "painting with a broad brush", and why it offends people.

Lastly, if you want me to be nice, try to keep from lumping me into belief systems because you don't understand the differences between them.

And you, Mr Gadfly, have the nerve to whine about personal attacks?

I resent that. I have never eaten an immoral baby in my life. The babies I eat must meet the highest moral standards. :baby:

It is true what they say, you are what you eat.:angel2:

Yup. They are, after all, its representatives.

I see. So the fact that dogs can hear sounds I can't is a matter of perspective. Funny. I thought it was a matter of having ears adequate to the task. :angel2:
