Prove you Exist.

Could someone please offer a sound logical argument that they, or anything for that matter, exists. I'm not looking for philosophy or reason just a well formulated logical argument.

I know I exist because I perceive myself. But, perception presupposes existence. So, I guess I can't prove it. But, I'm pretty certain that I do exist. Do you doubt your existence? I don't and I haven't even seen you. :D

I'm only interested in someone presenting a formal logical argument for existence. No more, no less.

I'm curious to see the arguments. I really don't think it can be proven unless we use evidence that presupposes that we exist. That's the problem. I'll stay tuned...

Rene Descartes suggested that in order for a person to doubt themselves, there must be a doubter doubting himself.

I doubt, therefore I am?

The WHOLE quote is "I doubt. Therefore I think. Therefore, I am."

In order for doubt to exist there must be thought. For thought to take place, there must be existence.

If I worry about my own existence or yours, then I must exist.

Scott

That's not a formal logical argument. That's all I am looking for.

Do you know what a syllogism is? You've just seen one of the classic examples of a syllogism.
Function: noun Etymology: Middle English silogisme, from Anglo-French sillogisme, from Latin syllogismus, from Greek syllogismos, from syllogizesthai to syllogize, from syn- + logizesthai to calculate, from logos reckoning, word — more at legend Date: 14th century 1 : a deductive scheme of a formal argument consisting of a major and a minor premise and a conclusion (as in “every virtue is laudable; kindness is a virtue; therefore kindness is laudable”) 2 : a subtle, specious, or crafty argument 3 : deductive reasoning

Maya proposes we are not really here. We are in the Matrix. This big fat pancake stuck on my wall is a glitch.

I dont see the point in these questions. The yare those questions which really have no meaning, and for people in mid-life crisis's...

The only person I can prove to that I truly exist is me. ;) Rene Descartes said the same (I know, no philosophical arguments)

But, I do post here. The words I type are my own words (or God's). I have a headache, so I am in pain, that proves that I really exists, if I were only figment of imagination I would not feel any pain. :D

The most logical way that I think I can prove I exist is by replying to the question.

I have to exist to respond.

We could all be taking part in a virtual reality game thousands of years into the future. It is so sophiticated we really believe that the game is reality!
