Presidential Election Ads.

Twilight Hue

I thought that a thread devoted to them would be handy. Either party. Praising your candidate or cutting down the opposition. Anything that you thought that made a good point is welcome here.

To start it off I will provide a Republican ad, sort of:

Have you noticed modern political ads are more about attacking one's opponents rather than focusing on issues affecting the country and explaining their strategy for the people they are supposed to represent?

Those are the ones that you remember. And that was not a Democratic ad that I posted. It was actually a Republican one. I could post positive ads by Biden. I know that they are out there. But they would probably bore you.

I think that you meant "cliche'". And Biden did that. Trump did almost nothing for infrastructure. But Biden will remind people of that. And he will also remind people that the inflation caused by the pandemic and then aggravated by Russia has been largely alleviated in this country. Oh wait, you not understand inflation either. Please note, prices almost never go backwards. You seriously do not want them to go backwards. When inflation is ended they stay the same. You really should take an economics course some day.

Sorry.

Inflation for me is what I have to pay for goods and services vs my paycheck.

All that 'good news' about the economy?

Well that's obviously meant for someone else.

Then you are using the wrong terminology. That is a you problem. That is not a problem of everyone else. Many people had raises that matched inflation, or were close to it. Inflation is a hidden tax. Do you remember all of the money sent out by the government, started by Trump and continued by Biden? The bill for that had to come sooner or later. It was needed due to the pandemic. That occurred all around the world. That means it was not Trump's fault, it was not Biden's fault. It was due to the pandemic and steps needed to overcome it. If you blame Biden for the inflation you are way off the mark.

Biden doesn't need to discuss his plans for the future, which will depend on whether America can give him a Congress that he can work with. He accomplished great things when the Democrats held both houses, but the American people in their infinite wisdom and sophistication gave the House back to MAGA, and the government was crippled. Johnson finally got something accomplished with the help of the Democrats despite Republican obstructionism.

Biden can campaign exclusively on his accomplishments and Trump's failures. What he can do in his second term will depend on the brilliant American electorate, assuming that they don't give the White House back to the Joker.

Trump can campaign on his successes, too, such as building that wall and getting Mexico to pay for it, a highly successful response to Covid, replacing Obamacare with something better, and his infrastructure successes.

Trump will probably help you there. He feels your pain and cares about you and has an excellent understanding of economics mostly acquired in bankruptcy courts, grifting banks, and stiffing creditors. Trump was almost able to make casinos profitable.

Trump presented a $200B plan to Congress in February 2018 and Democrats shot it down.

Welcome to American Capitalism, where the economy doing well just means the numbers the priest class look at are pleasing them. We are not important for their finnicky gods to consider, amd our well being is just something to get in the way of the well being of the Chosen Ones.

OK, I am no fan of inflation, but it was a predictable reaction to the pandemic. And it was global not US only so one could not blame Biden or Trump. It is a hidden tax that hardly touches the rich at all. And, yes for a while it did outpace wage increases, but in the US that didn't occur until March of last year and it will take a while to catch up:

I do believe that was because his plan was horribly flawed. Why didn't he work with the Democrats. That is what Biden had to do with the Republicans. You have in effect just admitted that Biden is a more competent President than Trump was.
Or that Congressional Republicans are more willing to be bipartisan and work for the betterment of the country than Congressional Democrats.

Do you know whether his plan was horribly flawed or do you just “believe” it because it’s Trump?

Trump presented a $1.7 trillion budget plan in February 2018 that would start with the $200 billion he tried selling February 2018.
