I absolutely love holland's talk. It was extremely powerful.

Nutshell, I think you probably care too much about what the Antis think rather than enjoying the talks as a member of the church.

and trust me, i used to do the same thing, especially when my wife was first investigating the churhc, i was so afraid that something would be said that would turn her away or turn her off from investigating further. and while things were said thta i thought she might take offense to, she just enjoyed the wonderful messages.

i think we get too wrapped up about what other people think about us makign statements like :the only true church" and such.

it reminds me of the talk that I think it was eyering? i could be wrong, but he said there are two types of people, those that gain a testimony by sharing and those who gain a testimony by listening.

I immediately recognized that my wife is one of those people who gains a testimony by listening rather than sharing. And that we should not worry about the verbage used in baring a testimony, but worry more about inviting the spirit with your words and allowing the spririt to testify truth.

L. Tom Perry. That smile of his is great. He is always optimistic. J. Golden Kimball is my "Patron Saint":D
I worked as a hostess (aka "26th floor observation deck tour guide") at the Church Office Building for eleven years. In that time, we hardly ever saw any of the General Authorities. Once or twice, though, I saw Tom Perry in the cafeteria. He always made eye contact, smiled and said "hello." It was as if he were your next door neighbor. That wasn't the case with some of the others. I know they're busy and wouldn't expect them to acknowledge everyone who was looking at them and whispering, "Oh wow! Look who's across the room!!!!", but his demeanor really, really impressed me.

I agree he has a great demeanor and he comes across as a great speaker also.

meh...
Speaking of President Uchtdorf, anyone else notice that he put intolerance and pornography in the same list of sins during priesthood session last night?
Of course, that is tempered a bit by what Pres. Monson said (probably a bit of a paraphrase, but pretty close): Sin often wears the mask of tolerance.

because i can sympathize with Nutshell becuase my attitude used to be overly critical about the things that were said in talks or at conference.

Don't think you really understand Nutshell's position or where at all he is coming from. None of us do.
