Al Qaeda's War for Syria

The United States and its allies should consider opening a second front in the Syrian war. In addition to helping end Bashar Assad's rule, there is a growing need to conduct a covert campaign against al Qaeda and other extremist groups gaining a presence in the country.

While al Qaeda makes up a small part of the resistance movement, its strength appears to be rising. Since last December, al Qaeda has conducted roughly two dozen attacks, primarily against Syrian security service targets. Virtually all have been suicide attacks and car bombings, and they have resulted in more than 200 deaths ...

I don't want the US anywhere near the Middle East or Syria right now. The Wall Street Journal is pandering to the neo-Conservatives who like invading other countries.

If we were to invade Syria, it would make us, again, look like the Evil Western Empire come to poke its nose where it doesn't belong. It would cause extreme friction with both China and Russia. It would cause a serious morale problem with the entire country here. Our soldiers and our people are tired of fighting for a little while.

I feel bad for Syrians but this is their fight. People always want us to stay out of their business.

Wish granted.

US people wouldn't like to be raided in their own land, the government should have empathy and stay the people under his command out the conflict, it only can set things worse. Damage has been done already. They will continue praising this and will get what they want. Their leaders are really ambicious and feel like having all the power over other countries.

It occurred to me that the US is once again attempting to play both sides of the game. While they are nominally fighting Al-Qaeda elsewhere, they are secretly giving weapons to the Syrian "rebels," funneled through its various NATO allies in the region.

The US will turn on them once things become inconvenient. And with an "al-Qaeda presence" in Syria, the US will pretend as if they have no choice but to invade.
