If we didn't have organized religion would GOD still exist?

I think that someone would eventually recognize GOD in this physical existence. Trying to convince others would be more difficult.

Since I believe that the Divine or Eternal is within us, yes.

It's a difficult question because I don't humans have ever been without some organization.

Absolutely. And I think he'd be a lot easier to understand too. I agree with Lightkeeper...he's indwelling.

God wouldn't exist if we never had enough to eat.

It may sound like a stupid comment, but I believe that once man had enough time to fulfill all his basic needs, he started to think about how exactly he got here.

I have to agree with Maggie on this. The UNDERSTANDING about GOD that I have received has been quoted verbatim from many of the comments that atheists have posted on this very forum. For a group of people who have no desire to K(NOW) GOD they certainly have captured (quite accurately I might add) the UNDERSTANDING that GOD has towards us as humans.

First of all, we have to think about the beginning of creation. Before anything was created there wes GOD. He has always existed and al wasy will exist.

Psalms 90:2 Before the mountains themselves were born,Or you proceeded to bring forth as with labor pains the earth and the productive land,Even from time indefinite to time indefinite you are God.

Before Adam's sin, perfect mankind was to live on earth happily, serving one God all the same way, forever. It would have been the way of life or norm you might say. Because we inherit sin from our Forfather Adam, many have be lead off the path of serving God in a way that is exceptable to him. Thus, we have religion.

But please note: 1 corinthians 8:5-6
    5
For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," 6 there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him.

So, If you are not serving the True God which god are you serving?

The question of the thread makes a presumption that God exists, even though we already have organized religion. I dare say that we have members that would debate that point.

Come to think of it, I'd say that I'll be amazed if God exists WITH organized religion. If I were the omnipotent God that most believe in, I'd probably wipe organized religion off the face of the earth and start over.

That’s just it. Since we K(NOW) that GOD has existed way before the formation of many worldwide religions which religion has GOD converted over to? Which religion has the most accurate K(NOW)ledge of GOD and what were their resources?

Not to the extent that most religions believe that GOD exists with them.

I think you would find other ways to connect to organized religion. I haven’t K(NOW)N you for that long (or maybe I did) but I think it is safe to assume your spirit is just too personable to let yourself easily go unK(NOW)n like that.

First, let's make a distinction between god and our concepts of god. God may or may not exist, but our concepts of god do in fact exist, and are human inventions. With that distinction in mind, I think that specific concepts of god -- such as the Judeo-Christian concept -- would not exist without organized religion to promote them. But whether god itself exists or not has nothing to do with organized religion.

I agree with Sunstone. It reminds me of an argument I had with some people on another forum... they were convinced I was male, and refused to believe otherwise. However, their opinions about my nature didn't change my nature in one bit.

I don't believe God exists. I believe the concept exists, and that the concept represents many things in the human experience. However, if God did exist, my belief in its nonexistance would not in any way affect the nature of its existance.

Why do so many Christians believe that the Bible is proof that their "God" exists?
(Please forgive me for going of the subject a bit, I am just curious)

Sunstone's point is excellent, well stated, and accurate. We agree.

    Amen.

You are correct, Carrdero. What I meant was that if I were God, I'd wipe organized religion from the face of the earth - not it's practioners. I would then appear directly for all to see, give them the message, straight from the Horse's mouth, and let it start over.
