Workers Treated Like Dirt

I wanted to share this in case anybody thought things were getting better.
I work in a modern office block in London. It is managed by a large multinational company and tenanted by major Swiss, U.S. and Chinese banks.

Reception work has on occassion been done by security officers covering covering meal breaks, absences etc. This week a new receptionist was sent there for training and the only qualified person available was a security officer. The lesson was quickly halted when management saw the officer sitting next to the receptionist. It was explained that it is inappropriate for a security officer to sit in the presence of other people and that he should continue the lesson from a standing position. After the lesson he was allowed to go back to risking life and limb guarding them.

You think it was any better in the past?
