Which is More Likely to Lead to Moral Behavior? Regret, Guilt, or Shame?

I wasn't aware there was much difference between the three.
Big differences.
If someone insults Jesus or publishes disparaging pictures of him in the US, you're not going to get riots and demands for retribution. Do that in an honor culture, and all Hell could erupt.

Insult someone in the backwoods of Kentucky and you could incite a protracted family blood feud. Do it in New York and the individual will shake his head, mutter "what an idiot" and walk off. That would be the end of it.
(-- Yes, I know this is a stereotyped, cultural exaggeration, but you get the idea. A proper psycho-social treatment would be pretty extended)
