Two millenniums

Two millenniums ago the consciousness of mankind underwent drastic changes, then one epoch was replacing another one. Convergence, divergence, sequence – of the two epochs... let us have a very brief... very brief look at it. That was the ending – of the Old Testament epoch ( epoch of the Letter of law ), and the beginning – of the New Testament epoch ( epoch of the Spirit of law ). Convergence lies in the Kingdom, and that means that first there appears the people, then for justice one needs law, then comes the king and the king’s town – centralized governance; for relations of the people with God one needs temple, sacrifices, blessing; these are the key notions available in both epochs, with one divergence only:
  • in the epoch of the Letter of Law – the people, law, temple – that is all physical
  • in the epoch of the Spirit of Law – the people, law, temple – that is all spiritual

In other words, when our era started, humanity transferred the key notions from the Earthly, that is a physical – visual sphere, to the Heavenly one, that is spiritual – invisible sphere.

Humanity had two millenniums to realize how each key notion turned from the physical one into a spiritual one…
People
  • there were – Abraham’s sons ( physical descendants )
  • they came to be – disciples of Christ ( spiritual followers )
Law
  • it used to be - "You shall not murder" – murder as the action ( visible )
  • it became - "everyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment" – anger is not an action ( invisible )

Over the past two millenniums humanity came to recognize superiority of the Spirit of Law - principles, over the Letter of Law - rules... that enchanted, even fascinated... and humanity that was even too much physical - " Show no pity: life for life, eye for eye...", became very... very spiritual - "Love you enemies...".

So why has humanity, being so physical, become so much spiritual?

Partially the answer lies in the very divergence:
Letter of the Law stands for physical requirements helping to distinguish between physical actions, and, thus, understand the physical world
Spirit of the Law stands for spiritual requirements helping to distinguish between spiritual actions, and, thus, understand the spiritual world

  • When the person cognizes the physical world, physical consciousness is thus formed – that is the period of childhood.
  • When the person cognizes the spiritual world, spiritual consciousness is thus formed – that is the period of youth.

What is this article about? To put it in a nutshell: human society was developing in the same way as humans grow up – from babyhood, through childhood and youth, to maturity; where the Bible is the history of mankind but it is written in a special way since it enables to realize that.

And where is the period of babyhood?

We should have a closer look at it. One may do it, for instance, by opening the Bible in two places at the same time: where the first 11 sections ( Genesis chapters 1 - 11 ) finish and where the Old Testament finishes, the Bible is divided into three parts, and though these are rather different parts, but all the three of them have one convergent feature – each of them embraces the time span of two millenniums.

An ordinary life situation: we have met a baby ( the period of deep childhood, but no longer an infant ), what can we ask him/her?... perhaps, just a little... his/her name, how old (s)he is... and if the baby trusts us, (s)he will tell his/her name which (s)he already remembers and show it by fingers how old (s)he is... The same goes for the first 11 sections of the Bible: they mainly contain years of age and names.
And also it is worth recalling the events of the first eight years of life ( close one’s eyes and try and recall )... not that many memories... reminiscences of that period are as bright flashes, and it is next to impossible to recall what happened before or after that event... The same goes for the first 11 sections of the Bible, they contain two bright memories: the first one is Eden; and the second one is the Flood.

And to conclude. The first 11 sections embrace two millenniums ( the next two intervals two millenniums each are separate epochs )... and then humanity seems to have been replaced, the style of writing changes, as an example: the next 11 sections embrace only some 100 years, they describe the events, with a great number of details. The impression is that consciousness of humanity gets awoken...

Very beautiful. And beautiful to think about.

I want to add, that although we are in a spiritual epoch, much of humanity didn’t get the memo.

Btw, I am not quite sure what you mean by “sections”.
