Two day project - under $300!

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I needed to do two things:

1) Get rid of lots of clothes, and

2) Rearrange my closet so I would have a vanity area

I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so after cleaning out my closet and giving away a ton of clothes and shoes, I went second hand shopping and here is what I found:

An antique chair from the late 1800's with no seat in it.
A Queen Anne side table/vanity/entry way piece whatever, with some cracked veneer but in otherwise good shape, including the original hardware - from the 1920s.
A little shelf - no telling when it was made - sturdy but very gobbed up with paint and glue.

I sanded, glued, clamped, primed, and painted them all and then made a seat for the chair (yes, I used an electric saw - scared to death the entire time!), and then upholstered the seat. I already had a mirror. I bought a rug ($8) and a lamp ($12) and a vase ($7) and VOILA!

I'm going to feel like a 40's movie star getting dressed in the mornings! Of course, I don't have nearly as many clothes to choose from now...
