The racial equality battle is still ongoing

Your points are adequately covered in my post above.

I can't see any discussion of specific US policies that make US protectionism contemptible, while Chinese protectionism, despite being far greater by any measure, is praiseworthy.

In your opinion, what are these specific policies?

USA-CHINESE trade agreements were negotiated taking into account their respective conditions. These agreements were ongoing and progressive, widening their scope as offers were made and mutually accepted..

The difference came when the USA unilaterally revoked some of them by introducing banning list not so much on trade but on individual companies who had a major trading links with American companies.
That went further, Trump banned them trading world wide, and stopped them buying goods that had any AMERICAN content. Such as Google owned soft and firmware.
and chips made using American sourced tooling.

This was clearly designed to damage these companies directly.

However as others have pointed out in this thread. These bans have forced China's hand. Who have now advanced their own investment and abilities in these fields.
This will cause a direct loss to American companies of many billions of dollars a year.

In the process of increasing their own capacity China has taken advantage of investing in the next generation of chips, leapfrogging the the previous American designs.

Rather than harming Chines companies, in the medium term (some time next year) Companies like Huawei will have the availability of the most advanced chips in the world. This of course will damage still further their present suppliers in the far East who use American tooling.

You can say once broken twice shy... In future these companies are almost certain to use the more advanced Chinese tooling. Which in turn will damage American business still further.

In the meantime China has announced that it is preparing it own banning list.
So the Trade War will escalate.

The American position will not improve one iota.

I was notified to day that my Huawei phone will have the latest Android 10 and Emui this month. I have already received their latest replacement/addition for Google search, play, and maps. My particular phone (18 months old) will never need their replacement for the Android operating system, though it is being shipped in the far East.

These American bans will be very costly, but will have the affect of further strengthening the Chinese industry.

Something of an own Goal.

Due to them breaking US law. Other companies had to stop trading with them otherwise they could be complicit in an attempt to circumvent US sanctions on Iran.

LONDON/DUBAI (Reuters) - China’s Huawei Technologies acted to cover up its relationship with a firm that had tried to sell prohibited U.S. computer gear to Iran, after Reuters in 2013 reported deep links between the firm and the telecom-equipment giant’s chief financial officer, newly obtained internal Huawei documents show.

Exclusive: Huawei hid business operation in Iran after Reuters reported links to CFO

Huawei is a company that is closely tied to the Chinese government, is subsidised by them giving them an unfair advantage, was violating US sanctions against Iran, has a history of stealing IP and is closely involved in constructing a repressive total surveillance state including the brutal repression of minorities.

You can agree or disagree with the US actions, but the idea that this represents a great moral failing is hard to justify, especially as many American companies are banned from operating in China and China is a far more closed economy than the US.

This was clearly designed to damage these companies directly.

Do you have a problem with targeted sanctions imposed by the EU on Russian companies tied to Putin's oligarchs?

As far as I can tell, the EU does not interfere with US companies that are making deals with Russian companies, nor has any European country imprisoned an American COO over it.

EU companies can't knowingly supply their product via a 3rd party to circumvent sanctions.

The resolution:

No funds or economic resources shall be made available, directly or indirectly, to or for the benefit of natural or legal persons, entities or bodies listed in the Annex.

In practice, EU companies aren't allowed to circumvent US sanctions, while US companies face no such restrictions against targets of EU sanctions that are not subject to similar US sanctions.

I have no illusions about the difficulties that advent of Covid19 have caused both to the Chinese Authorities and to the world.
However the "blame Game" will not solve any of them.
China has a devolved health system that is often at odds with itself, never-the less has done a good job of containing the Virus with in its own borders.
It has handed to WHO and individual countries a high level of statistical and medical data necessary to fight the outbreak.

Still think it is just Trump being a racist?

EU says China behind 'huge wave' of Covid-19 disinformation

Brussels shifts position by accusing Beijing for first time of running false campaigns

China has been accused by Brussels of running disinformation campaigns inside the European Union, as the bloc set out a plan to tackle a “huge wave” of false facts about the coronavirus pandemic.

The European commission said Russia and China were running “targeted influence operations and disinformation campaigns in the EU, its neighbourhood, and globally”. While the charge against Russia has been levelled on many occasions, this is the first time the EU executive has publicly named China as a source of disinformation.

French politicians were furious when a Chinese embassy website claimed in mid-April, at the height of Europe’s pandemic, that care workers had abandoned their jobs leaving residents to die. The unnamed Chinese diplomat also claimed falsely that 80 French lawmakers had used a racist slur against the head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

“I believe if we have evidence we should not shy away from naming and shaming,” Vĕra Jourová, a European commission vice-president, told reporters. “What we also witnessed is a surge in narratives undermining our democracies and in effect our response to the crisis, for example the claim there are secret US biological laboratories on former Soviet republics has been spread by both pro-Kremlin outlets, as well as Chinese officials and state media.”
