The Kyle Rittenhouse trial:

Also in today's news. The judge did allow the consideration of lesser charges. Though that may not help much. The defense put on a very good closing argument. And the judge threw out the one charge that he was most likely to have been found guilty of and has huge ramifications for the other verdicts.

The judge threw out the misdemeanor charge of a juvenile improperly having possession of a deadly weapon. For the prosecution that takes away the argument of "He should not have been there in the first place". At this point to me it looks as if he will walk. The best that the prosecutor can hope for is a hung jury so that he has another swing at this.

How often does this happen?

"Kyle Rittenhouse on Tuesday randomly selected the seven women and five men who will decide whether he should be held criminally responsible for gunning down two men during a social justice protest in Wisconsin last year.

The Kenosha jury was picked from a pool of 18 people who sat through two weeks of testimony and arguments in a case that's drawn national attention and sparked debate on gun rights and race."
