The Greater Covernants of God

God's promises to humanity are not forgotten, the world is heading towards a lesser peace that will in time become the Most Great Peace. It is a fulfillment of God's Covernants' to all humanity.

In the Bible we have been guided to an age where the earth is but one country and mankind is its citizens, we can no longer be divided, we must establish the oneness of humanity.

The Noahic Covenant
Genesis 9, this is a covenant God establishes with Noah after the flood in which he resets and renews the blessings of creation, reaffirming God’s image in humanity and the work of dominion. This covenant promises the preservation of humanity and provides for the restraint of human evil and violence.

The Abrahamic Covenant
Genesis 12 and 15. This is the most central to the biblical story. In it, God promises Abraham a land, descendants and blessing. This blessing promised to Abraham would extend through him to all the peoples of the earth.

The Mosaic Covenant
Exodus 19 and 24. This is the covenant God establishes with the people of Israel at Mt. Sinai after he led them out of Egyptian slavery. With it, God supplies the Law that is meant to govern and shape the people of Israel in the Promised Land. This Law was not a means of salvation but would distinguish the people from the surrounding nations as a special kingdom of priests (Exodus 19:1-7). This covenant was conditional and defined blessings and curses based on obedience or disobedience (see Deuteronomy 28-29).

The Baha'i Universal House of Justice on 23 March 1975 offered this,

“A Covenant in the religious sense is a binding agreement between God and man, whereby God requires of man certain behaviour in return for which He guarantees certain blessings, or whereby He gives man certain bounties in return for which He takes from those who accept them an undertaking to behave in a certain way.” (The Covenant compilation).

In this age we are witnessing the culmination of the Noahic, Abrahamic and Mosaic Covernants in the realisation of the Oneness of God and the Oneness of humanity.

"This is the Day in which God’s most excellent favours have been poured out upon men, the Day in which His most mighty grace hath been infused into all created things. It is incumbent upon all the peoples of the world to reconcile their differences, and, with perfect unity and peace, abide beneath the shadow of the Tree of His care and loving-kindness. It behoveth them to cleave to whatsoever will, in this Day, be conducive to the exaltation of their stations, and to the promotion of their best interests...." (Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh)

"...That all nations should become one in faith and all men as brothers; that the bonds of affection and unity between the sons of men should be strengthened; that diversity of religion should cease, and differences of race be annulled—what harm is there in this?... Yet so it shall be; these fruitless strifes, these ruinous wars shall pass away, and the “Most Great Peace” shall come.... Do not you in Europe need this also? Is not this that which Christ foretold?..." (Words spoken to E. G. Browne, from his pen portrait of Bahá’u’lláh)

Could you share some of Baha'u'llah's writings about the Lesser Peace?
There is quite a lot on this, where does one start, maybe here?

".... We beseech God to assist the kings of the earth to establish peace on earth. He, verily, doth what He willeth.

O kings of the earth! We see you increasing every year your expenditures, and laying the burden thereof on your subjects. This, verily, is wholly and grossly unjust. Fear the sighs and tears of this Wronged One, and lay not excessive burdens on your peoples. Do not rob them to rear palaces for yourselves; nay rather choose for them that which ye choose for yourselves. Thus We unfold to your eyes that which profiteth you, if ye but perceive. Your people are your treasures. Beware lest your rule violate the commandments of God, and ye deliver your wards to the hands of the robber. By them ye rule, by their means ye subsist, by their aid ye conquer. Yet, how disdainfully ye look upon them! How strange, how very strange!

Now that ye have refused the Most Great Peace, hold ye fast unto this, the Lesser Peace, that haply ye may in some degree better your own condition and that of your dependents.

O rulers of the earth! Be reconciled among yourselves, that ye may need no more armaments save in a measure to safeguard your territories and dominions. Beware lest ye disregard the counsel of the All-Knowing, the Faithful.

Be united, O kings of the earth, for thereby will the tempest of discord be stilled amongst you, and your peoples find rest, if ye be of them that comprehend. Should any one among you take up arms against another, rise ye all against him, for this is naught but manifest justice...."

There is this advice from Baha'u'llah about the House of Justice promoting peace.

".. First:It is incumbent upon the ministers of the House of Justice to promote the Lesser Peace so that the people of the earth may be relieved from the burden of exorbitant expenditures. This matter is imperative and absolutely essential, inasmuch as hostilities and conflict lie at the root of affliction and calamity...(“Tablets of Bahá’u’lláh revealed after the Kitáb-i-Aqdas”, p. 89)

The Universal House of Justice released this document in 1985.

This is actually from the Suriy-i-Haykal in the section addressed to Queen Victoria.

In the theme of your post, you are describing how there have been covenants between God and people. They are binding agreements. In order for the Lesser Peace to be fulfilled as a covenant style promise, it does require the rulers of earth to be reconciled among themselves, have weapons solely for the defense of their own territory and citizens, and to rise up against any aggressor. With the Universal House of Justice being commanded by Baha'u'llah to promote the Lesser Peace, what steps have the UHJ taken to enact this covenant?

For example, there are currently 193 to 196 heads of state in the world. How many of these leaders have the UHJ taught, advised, and convinced to believe in the Lesser Peace? Are there any letters, programs, departments, etc. which are dedicated to this purpose?

"The Promise of World Peace" was written by the UHJ in 1985, and they instructed the believers to deliver this to government officials. I remember going with Frank Qualls to our local representative for our district in Ohio. National Assemblies were to deliver this message to national leaders.

What was the response by the local representative? Did you deliver the Promise of World Peace to whomever has held the office since then?

He didn't look impressed to me. He read it in our presence. No more presentations of the Promise of World Peace since then.
