The Bible in Assamese

I'm trying to locate the Bible in Assamese. I tried our local Christian bookstore, but the lady wouldn't help me much. Does anyone have an idea of where I could look?

My English (at least reading and writing) has been improving a lot, but when it comes to reading the Bible, I feel like it's in a completely different language from English. I'm worried that it'll have weird wording in Assamese too, so I'd like to get it from some place where I could ask questions about it. Thus, why I de-pentagramed myself for the Christian bookstore.

So, anyway, does anyone know of a place to get the Bible in different languages? I've got the NT in French, but I got that in France.

The Assamese version will probably be more precise than any English translation.

Walking on water, comes to mind.

I haven't been able to locate the Bible in Assamese, but I hope that I won't offend you by referring to http://www.wbtc.com/articles/downloads/bengali_downloads_main.html where you should be able to download he books one by one in Banglabhasha. Links like http://www.csiny.org/ifc/index1.htm lead nowhere, despite "assamese". Acording to http://www.christusrex.org/www1/pater/ethno/Bang.html , there exists just "the Bible 1833, in press (1995) and NT 1819-1898. Bible portions 1822-1974."

So sorry; I would have welcomed any way to get at an Assamese text that I could compare to Bangal or even Hindi.

Hehe, beat you to it: http://www.greyfurnacebooks.com/all_bibles.htm#OT%20Assamese-India%20-Above had a 2-vol. set of Assamese OT. But maybe they've got more.

At least, you can download bangla Bible books one by one from http://wbtc.com/articles/downloads/default.htm.

Or you could try contacting the Genl. Secy. of the Bible Society of India at [email protected] - they (he/she)should know.
