Well that's a bit of an exaggerated title, no? It may seem like a silly question to ask, but there are some that hold the idiotic view that "AI COULD TAKE OVER THE WORLD" and the like. Stephen Hawking warns artificial intelligence could end mankind - BBC News

The robot was just following through with programmed motions rather than purposefully deciding to grab the guy and crush him.
That's what the robots tell you.
Pretty much. Robots like this are made to do repetitive motions and little else. They rarely have sensors in place beyond making sure what they're lifting is (roughly) the right weight, and even that is kind of rare.
