Story of Prophet Mohamed (Prayer & peace upon him) (quoted)

Twice while Muhammad (pbuh) was still a young man he went on business trips with his uncle. On both trips, separate holy men warned Abu Talib to care for Muhammad (pbuh). They could see that he would be the great Prophet. Muhammad's (pbuh) uncle began to watch Muhammad (pbuh) more closely.
Muhammad (pbuh) was twenty five when he married his first wife, Khadijah. Khadijah was wealthy and came from a very respected family among the Quraish. She was forty and had been widowed twice. Both men had been wealthy and left her all of their money.
Abu Talib heard that she was looking to hire a man to take a caravan of merchandise to Syria. So on behalf of his nephew, he told her about Muhammad (pbuh). Khadijah had heard of how honest this young man was and agreed to allow Muhammad (pbuh) to lead the Caravan. During this trip, he was accompanied by Khadijah's personal servant, Maisarah.
Muhammad (pbuh) not only made a very successful trip psychically, but also financially. He had treated each trade with such fairness and honesty that Maisarah was overwhelmed. Maisarah was astounded at the way Muhammad (pbuh) conducted himself. He relayed all of this to Khadijah. Khadijah was very pleased at the great success of her trading mission.
Muhammad (pbuh) was soon rewarded with more. Khadijah having spoke with Muhammad (pbuh) and having heard the accounts of the trip from Maisarah, fell in love with Muhammad (pbuh). She confronted her best friend Nafisa. It was Nasfisa that went to Muhammad (pbuh) and asked him why he was not married. He replied that he was to poor to marry. Nasfisa told him of Khadijah and her love of him. She asked him if he would merry Khadijah. Muhammad (pbuh) accepted.
The authority in Mecca was divided among the ten senators who constituted the governing body of the Arabian Commonwealth. A storm had ripped threw Mecca, damaging many of the building's including the Ka'bah. A group of young men from each tribe had assembled in shifts to repair the Ka'bah, afraid that it would collapse. Though most of Mecca was worshiping idols, many of them felt the Ka'bah was the only remaining connection to the Prophets of the past.
The project was half way completed, and was time to replace the Hajai Aswad (the black stone). The tribes began to argue on who should have the honor. They all decided, the next one to enter the courtyard would decide the matter for them. The first to come was Muhammad (pbuh), the people cried out ‘Al Ameen, he will decide’. Muhammad (pbuh) listened to the tale of what happened. Then he got a large sheet and placed the black stone on it with his bare hands. He asked the chiefs of each clan to take hold of the cloth and carry it to the wall. When they reached the wall he told them to raise it up high. Muhammad (pbuh) again took the stone with his hands and placed it in position. The tribes we’re all very pleased with his wisdom. Muhammad (pbuh) had averted a war between them.
Muhammad (pbuh) and Khadijah had been married for fifteen years they had many children. Unfortunately many died early in childhood. It was during this time that Khadijah turned all of her wealth over to her husband. She had done so, because Muhammad (pbuh) had no wealth of his own. She knew how much he wanted to help others. Muhammad (pbuh) never abused the wealth, using it only when he needed to help an unfortunate. He even paid off part of his Uncle Abu Talib debt, out of gratitude for having raised him. Muhammad (pbuh) also helped to raise his uncles children, and adopted a boy who was bought as a slave.
Muhammad (pbuh) had never believed in the worshipping of idols. He knew that Allah was a much higher power then these wood and stone figures could ever represent. He could see how lawless cruel behavior and superstitious immoral conduct had engulfed the tribes of Arabia. The land was fueled with bitter quarrels and bloodshed, that was slowly destroying them. To elevate his heartache, Muhammad (pbuh) would retreat to a cave known as Hira, in the mountains surrounding Mecca. He would meditate over the intricacies of the universe and creation.
He was forty in the year was 610AD. He was is a deep concentration in the cave. The Angel Jibril appeared, with a dazzling light. “Read!” the voice boomed echoing against the walls of the cave. Muhammad (pbuh) was so startled the only thing that he could think of saying was “I can not read.” This was true he did not know how to read or write. “Read!” commanded the voice again, louder. Muhammad (pbuh) was desperate, pain had seized his chest. He cried out again “I cannot read!” Muhammad (pbuh) chest was squeezing even harder and he was frantic. “Read!” boomed the angel. Muhammad (pbuh) wanting the pain inside of him to stop he said “What should I read?” The pain stopped. The Angel continued "Read! In the Name of Your Lord, Who has created all that exists, has created a man from a clot. Read...and your Lord is the Most Generous, Who has taught the writing by the pen, and has taught man that which he knew not." Muhammad (pbuh) repeated the words to Jibril. The angel disappeared and the cave went dark.
Muhammad (pbuh) scared and shaking, not comprehending what had happened ran from the cave. He was stumbling down the path to his village, when he heard the voice call after him. “Muhammad (pbuh) you are the messenger of Allah, and I am the angel Jibril.” Muhammad (pbuh) cried out for Khadijah “cover me! cover me!” laying in her arms trembling threw the night. Feverishly he slept till morning. When he awoke he narrated the story to his wife. Khadijah was worried about her husband, but knew of the prophecy of his life. She even spoke to her cousin Waraqa Ibn Naufal, who was old and blind and who knew the Scriptures of the Jews and Christians. He told her that Muhammad (pbuh) was visited by the Namus (The Holy Spirit) who came to Moses. He told Muhammad (pbuh) to be brave and hold his faith.
Muhammad (pbuh) was dreadfully concerned, how was he going to make them listen. His people had been indulging for generations. Most of the town was rich and had very little concern for others. Six long months passed with out another revelation. It seemed that the Muhammad (pbuh) would go mad. He thought that, he had displeased Allah in some way. He was then visited again by the Jibril. "O you (Muhammad (pbuh)) enveloped (covered in cloth) Arise and warn! Your Lord (Allah) magnify!" He awaked sweating and told Khadijah. This was the will of Allah and he had to warn the people. She accepted the revelations and abandoned the idolatry of her people and was the first to except Islam.
In the following weeks the angel Jibril came to Muhammad (pbuh) teaching him the importance of purity, the manner of absolution and how to pray. Once this was completed Jibril taught him the most important surah. Surah Al-Fatiha . It took twenty three years, for the rest of the Quran to be revealed.
[001.001] In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

[001.004] Master of the Day of Judgment,

[001.007] The path of those whom Thou hast favored; Not the (path) of those who earn Thy anger nor of those who go astray.

Muhammad (pbuh) began his mission with his family. Many ridiculed Muhammad (pbuh) and we’re in disbelief. Those who knew him well, accepted the truth. Zayd ibn Harith, his adopted son embraced Islam. Ali, his cousin was the next to convert. Ali was the son of Abu Talib. Abu Talib came to the Prophet and said: "O son of my brother, what is this religion you are following?" "It is the religion of Allah of His Angels, of His Messengers and of our ancestor Abraham," answered the Muhammad (pbuh). "Allah has sent me to his servants, to direct them towards the truth, and you, O my uncle, are the most worthy of all. I should thus call upon you and you should accept the truth and help in spreading it." Abu Talib replied that he could not abandon the religion of his fathers. He also said that as long as he lived he would not let any harm come to Muhammad (pbuh). Ali's conversion was followed by Abu Bakr, from the elders of his people. Abu Bakr was a close friend of the Prophet (pbuh).
Muhammad (pbuh) took his message to the people of the Ka'bah. He explained the oneness of Allah. How they must abandon their idols and accept the truth. The people we’re too reluctant to give up the their false tangible gods, that had been handed down to them for generations. They became hostile with Muhammad (pbuh) and the Muslims for offending them.
The wealthy and powerful non believers in Mecca disagreed with the teachings of Muhammad (pbuh). Many Muslims we’re tortured and slain for not giving up their belief in Allah. Realizing that brute force was not going to waiver the Muslims, they decided to bargain with Muhammad (pbuh). Muhammad (pbuh) was offered the position as Chief of Mecca along with any maiden he wished for a bride, and as much money as Muhammad (pbuh) wanted. The only condition was, that he must stop his teachings. Muhammad (pbuh) replied that his mission was beyond the riches of this life. No amount of money or gifts or power would stop him from his duty as messenger of Allah.
Failing to convince his own people he began to approach the travelers that would come to Mecca. The Quraish adverted these efforts, hastening to meet the strangers first and warn them. They would lie, describing the Prophet as a dangerous magician. When they would return home they would take this news to their people.
It was the fifth year of spreading Islam, the Muslims we’re still under persecution. The hostile Quraish prevented the Prophet (pbuh) from offering his prayers at the Sacred House of the Ka'bah. More people began convert following the conversion of a few powerful citizen’s. The Quraish afraid that they would loose their social stance, and power in the community became more hostile toward the Muslims. Each family took oaths to stomp out the new religion from their own clans. They resulted to throwing them in prison, starving, and beating them. The hills of Ramada and the place called Bata thus became scenes of cruel torture.
Muhammad (pbuh) had heard that the king of Abyssinia was very kind. He commanded his people to leave Mecca and head to the Christian kingdom of Abyssinia under the rule of King Negus. Seven men and four women made the journey. This is called the first hijrah (migration) in the history of Islam and occurred in the 615AD .The second journey to the land was made by eighty two Muslims they we're always met with kindness from the people.
Outraged, the Quraish sent a representative to King Negus. He took along with him gifts and other goods, asking for the extradition of the fugitive’s. He claimed, they disrespected their gods and upset the tradition of the people in Mecca. This did not waiver the kings decision, he was a Christian and despised the worship of Idols. The representative then lied, saying that the Muslims had spoken badly of 'Isa (pbuh) and his mother Maryam (pbuh).
Seeing the seriousness of the allegations, the king asked the representative of the Muslims to come forward. He told the king of how they had come from the lowest of people, and how the Quran had taught them to love, and to respect others. To treat there woman with kindness and protect them as mothers, sisters and daughters. He also recited a section of the Quran that described the birth of 'Isa (pbuh). The beauty and style of his words moved those present to tears. The king said that no longer would these people be considered refugees, they we’re guests of his kingdom. The refugee's would be granted the freedom to live and trade as they saw fit, under his protection.
The disbelievers, were more than furious at the Prophet's increasing preaching against their religion. The unsuccessful trip to Abyssiran only fueled their anger. The Quraish leaders approached Abu Talib asking him to stop Muhammad (pbuh). Abu Talib told him that he could not.
A group was led forcing the followers to hold up in a fortress known as She'be Abi Talib. The year was 616 AD they made a treaty to excommunicate all of the inhabitants of She'be Abi Talib. The Quraish demanded from Abu Talib either surrender unconditionally, or to hand over Muhammad (pbuh) and his followers. Abu Talib refused to waiver and along with the Muslims suffered the blockade. It was three long years they lived under the protection of Abu Talib, practicing there beliefs. Even in the face of such hardships, people we’re still embracing the message of the Prophet.
The idolaters, grew tired of the blockade and withdrew. The Muslims returned to there homes, and what was left of their businesses. Two months after their release Muhammad (pbuh) dear uncle Abu Talib died. It would only be three days after the death of his uncle his beloved wife Khadijah also passed away. Muhammad (pbuh) was crushed in grie

Muhammad (pbuh) and his adopted son went to the town of Ta’if. They were met coldly by the leaders. Muhammad (pbuh) spoke to them about excepting Islam. The people of Ta'if refused to listen, and after some time they left, under hostile circumstances.

The Prophet (pbuh) boldly continued to preach at all public assemblies and gained several new converts. Among the new converts, was six men from of the city of Yahtrib (later called Medina), of the Jewish tribe of Khazraj. When they returned home, they told everyone that a Prophet (pbuh) had arisen among the Arabs. He was the messenger of Allah.

It was the twelfth year of his mission. The year was 621 before the Migration to Medina. Muhammad (pbuh) took a great journey during the night called Isra and miraj. He had prayed the night prayer with his cousin, Umm-e-Hani, and was resting in his cousins home, when he was transported to the mosque, al-Aqsa (Bait-ul-Muqqadis) in Jerusalem. He prayed, and was then taken into the heavens. He viewed the heavens and the worlds beyond. Allah had intended for Muhammad (pbuh) to understand how immense the universe was. This was to enlighten the Prophet (pbuh) and enhance his teachings. He returned in time to pray Fajr prayer with his cousin. It was at this time that Allah ordered the Muslims to pray the five daily prayers.

Muhammad's (pbuh) teaching's had now reached the people of Yathreb (Medina). Men began to travel to Mecca asking to meet with Prophet (pbuh). They would except Islam and learn the message of Allah. Upon returning to their homes, another group of people would come. Finally Muhammad (pbuh) sent one of his companions to the village of Medina to spread the word of Islam. Soon after people pored into Mecca accepting Islam. Seeing the conditions they we're forced under, one such group invited the Prophet (pbuh) and his companions to migrate to Medina. The Prophet (pbuh) was in much need of a sanctuary. The Idolaters grew bolder, Muhammad (pbuh) was praying in the Ka'bah when he was almost strangled. He grew afraid for his companions. The Muslims and the Prophet (pbuh) had been suffering in constant danger for fourteen years.
The Muslims decided to move slowly migrating to Yathreb. They began slowly afraid to yet again cause trouble or be met with a blockade. Slowly the only ones that we’re left was the Prophet (pbuh), Fatmia his daughter, his cousin Ali, Ali’s mother fatimah bint Asad and his friend Abu Bakar. The Quraish we’re watching the streets around the house of Muhammad (pbuh). Muhammad (pbuh) instructed Ali to stay in his bed, and in the morning distribute all the items that Muhammad (pbuh) had been keeping for others. Then he left accompanied by Abu Bakar. The following day the idolaters broke into the home shocked to find Ali in the home alone. Ali after a brief questioning carried out the instruction that he had been given and then hurried to join him at quba on the way to Media.
The Quraish we’re on the trail of the Prophet (pbuh). They had chased them to the cave of Thaur. Abu Baker was certain they would be found. Muhammad (pbuh) told him that there was nothing to fear, they need only trust Allah. As commanded by Allah a bird laid her eggs near the entrance of the cave and then a spider spun a web across the entrance. The idolaters seeing that the entrance had not been disturbed passed by the cave completely. The Prophet (pbuh) and his companion stayed in the cave for three days before they continued on their way to Yathreb.
When they met up with Ali at the Quba and headed for Medina. The caravan entered the anxious city. It became a day of festivities. They rejoiced at the coming of the Prophet (pbuh). A brief fuss was made as to where the Prophet (pbuh) would stay, and was decided that the Prophet (pbuh) took shelter with Abu Ayyub Ansari. The city of Yathreb became Madina-tun Nabi (the city of the Prophet (pbuh), and later as Medina.
The Prophet's (pbuh) next step was to purchased a piece of land and built a Mosque. It was the first Mosque built by the Muslims. The Mosque was known as the Grand Mosque, built by the Prophet (pbuh) and his companions. It took them seven months to finish it. The Prophet (pbuh) and his family and some of the companies also built their homes around the Mosque.
Medina and its suburb were at this time inhabited by three distinct parties, the Muhajireen, or those who had escaped the prosecution and migrated, the other being the Ansar the native people of Media, known as the helpers, and the Jews. In order to weld them together into an orderly federation, the Prophet (pbuh) declared the following: 'In the name of he Most Merciful and Compassionate Lord, this charter is given by Muhammad (pbuh), the Messenger of Allah to all believers, whether of Quraish or Medina, and all individuals of what ever origin who have made common cause with them, who shall all constitute one nation."
Having escaped with little more then the clothing on their backs the immigrants we’re very poor. He deemed that a common brotherhood should be established among the people of Medina. According to this, each native of Median would become the brother of a Muhajirren. This would unite them and they would share their business, wealth and land. The same way that real brother’s did.
The Quraish we’re so angered over the loss of their old enemies that they could not let them go without a fight. They began sending men into Medina, employing spies amongst the Jews. They also began to destroy the crops, and orchards of fruit trees, abusing, robbing and killing travelers that came by. They even formed unions with other communities that worshiped idols, around Medina. The tribe of Banu Israel joined them on their road of hatred, against the Muslims of Medina.
The Prophet (pbuh) knowing that they would need to defend themselves against this growing army began to train his followers for combat. They we’re to protect their families and their religion against oppression. Though they we’re small in number and limited in resources they were strong in faith of Allah and this gave them confidence. Along with forming the military and the government of Medina, the Prophet (pbuh) also laid down the rules of warfare to be sure that the enemy would be treated fairly, and none would transgress against the ways of Islam. They we’re as fellow's:
  • Before you enter battle try to negotiate peace talks.
  • Utter the name of Allah for assistance before you enter into battle.
  • If war is unpreventable and you must draw arms, carry out the action without cruelty.
  • Refrain from using ambush techniques.
  • Forbidden to the army was disfiguration or mutilations of the fallen enemy, killing or maiming of the old, sick, woman , and children.
  • Do not harm the monks or religious men.
  • Do not destroy, or cut down tree that bore fruit, or any other cultivation or garden.
  • Offer the trapped enemy a peaceful surrender if they accept your terms.

Many wars would follow against the Quraish, the Banu Israel in Medina and at Khyber, in north east of Medina. Some of the major battles we’re named Badr, Uhad, Khandaq, Hunain and Tabuk.
The numbers of the Muslims had increased immensely, they decide they would travel to Mecca ad make the first pilgrimage. A huge number of Muslims led by Muhammad (pbuh) entered the city of Mecca. The idolaters became nervous not knowing what the intention of the men were and decided to met with them. This would result in the non believers and the Muslims coming together to sign the treaty Hudaybiya. The treaty simply put is this: The Muslims could not enter the Ka'bah that year. They would be allowed the following year according to the agreement, the city would be vacated by the non believers. They would pitch their tents on the hills surrounding the holy precinct. The Muslims we’re disappointed but they performed their ritual sacrifices at their encampment, and returned to their homes. The Prophet (pbuh) assured them, they may return the next year.
The following year, the Muslim's left there home and headed for Medina. The non believers evacuated the city per the agreement and watched the strange sight. The refugee's having not seen their home in many years approached in a great army of people. They saw the Muslims perform the rituals of Umra, all clad in white robes, quiet and sober in behavior. There was no music, dancing, drinking, noise or screams. Their hearts were stirred by the discipline and organization of the Muslims. In accordance with the treaty, the Muslims left Mecca at the end of three day's.
Even with the peaceful conduct of the Muslims, many of the disbelievers among the people still wanted to cause harm to the Muslims. They would breached the contract, by killing members of the Muslim alliance. No peace talks could be met at these actions. Muhammad (pbuh) collected a large army and entered the city of Mecca. Unable to stop the army of Muhammad (pbuh), the Quraish had no choice but to surrender.
This city that humiliated, and caused them so much pain, now lay at their mercy. He warned them to accept Islam. The general agreed and was the first to accept. He informed the others of the mercy of the Muslim's. Muhammad (pbuh) declared that anyone who came forward and excepted Islam would be forgiven of their past crimes. They came forward in great numbers accepting Allah as the truth and Muhammad (pbuh) as His Messenger. In the light of such momentous achievement the Muslims went to the homes that they had lost and reunited with their family. The Prophet (pbuh) declared that Mecca would know be known as a sanctuary for all people.
The ninth year of the hijrah is known as the Year of Embassies, which many of the tribes of Arabia joined Islam, accepting the truth. One major factor to this was that no longer was the Quraish an apposing factor the tribes fled into Medina to make their submission to him. Quickly ending Idolatry in wave’s. The idolaters of Ta'if, the people who had turned their back on the messenger before came asking for prayers of forgiveness, to be accepted. Eventually they too would yield to the full requirements of being a Muslim.
It was near the end of year, during the month of Pilgrimage, the Prophet (pbuh) banned the pilgrimage of any idolatry from that year on. He had his cousin Ali read this proclamation aloud. At the end of the year the Prophet (pbuh) entered the Ka'bah, joined by Ali to break the idols. They cleaned the ground and prepared for the first prayer of the Muslims. Bilal, called the first Adhan in a melodious style that brought tears to the congregation. In light of all that had transpired in the last few years they prayed, thanking Allah for all of his mercy. Alhumdallah!
Those that followed the declaration of the Prophet (pbuh), found Islam by the following year. Muhammad (pbuh) also set out many teachers into the tribes to teach the Muslims the principles of Islam. Each teacher was given instructions before leaving. Muhammad's (pbuh) mission had been completed he had united the diverse religions of his people and the people around them. He had formed a brother hood among humanity. The most important of all was that he had spread the message of Allah. They understood now, Allah was a higher power then that which could be carved out of stone or wood. Allah was the creator of all things.
The profit took his final pilgrimage in the year 632. A vast sea of Muslims joined him. The number was between ninety thousand to one hundred and forty thousand people. Before completing the Hajj he addressed the assemble from the top of Mount Arafat. He told them to cherish their lives. To remember the oaths that they took to provide protection to their wives, and that couples have rights over each other. Not to forget that on the day of judgment they would be held accountable for actions good and bad. To take care of their slaves, see that they feed and cloth them only in things that they themselves would use. To also treat them well because hey are the servants of the Lord and are not to be harshly treated. To remember their prayers and that all Muslims belong in one brotherhood, never take from your brother without his consent. Then he told them, to tell the people that were not there everything he said. Then he asked Allah to verify that he had fulfilled his message and accomplished his work.
The Muslims cried out: "Yea, verily you have." The Prophet (pbuh) again exclaimed: "O Lord, I beseech You, bear witness to it." The Muslims finished the Hajj with stronger vigilance, then returned to their homes in Media.
It was at Khum-e-Ghadir, about half way to Medina when Jibril brought the last revelation from Allah. The Prophet (pbuh), after receiving the message immediately stopped the caravan and called the Muslims together. He then announced to the people that he was to leave them soon, and they should follow the two things he was leaving behind, Allah's Surahs and his teachings. Muhammad (pbuh) told them this message. "This day, we have perfected your religion and perfected you in my grace. "
It was shortly after his last Hajj that the Prophet (pbuh) fell sick and passed away. A pain swept the land. Friends and family and thousands of followers felt the loss. He had spent the last part of his life teaching the message’s of Allah to other’s. The Quran a clear message, and a rich heritage of tradition that would guild mankind for all times. Bringing together all religions and all races to one brotherhood. May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad. The last Prophet (pbuh) of Allah.
