Stealing a loaf of bread

I remember when I was a Christian and was in my confirmation class and the paster said something to the fact that, "If someone is starving they shouldn't steal a loaf of bread because it's a sin. If they're a believer and starve to death, they'll get to go to Heaven
That's the biggest load of corrupt bulldung I have ever heard. The best system after anarchy is socialism, where no one starves or lacks anything they need, but it's capitalism and religion that inspire people to want more than others and spread hedonistic propaganda.

If you can't reply in your own words, i'll assume you've nothing insightful to say on the subject. Pity, because there's much to be said.

Stealing for survival is no sin.

There's anarchy and there's Anarchy.

Neither can exist long because of outside influences (other governments, etc). The Spanish Civil War is a great example, it showed that freedom of the people is the enemy of governments.

I'm a Socialist and a Minarchist (minimal government) who believes in encouraging Capitalism but only if we put a big freaking leash on it and give that leash to the community at large.

Should talk about this in the Politic Subforum.

It's just that, survival. Look at animals in primitive organised aristocracies like bees and ants. They work for community and take out of stock, no stealing.

Not really as far as I see it, if everyone was just a happy contributor in a freethinking anarchical world it would be a utopia all-around. I'm sure there are devout websites that have more to offer about all those things, it's 2am here however and I didn't mean getting into this.

I could be called a moderate Anarchist.

I like a few other Libertarian Socialists (the umbrella of philosophies that Anarchism is apart of) believe that there is no utopia, just a society that allow for as much peaceful struggle as possible.

I'm still wondering where that lady got the keys to the bus. I guess she hot-wired it. Great story Michel.

If they're a believer and starve to death, they'll get to go to Heaven." I'm wondering how any of you feel about this, Christians especially. If someone is starving, is it okay for them to steal a loaf of bread (even if it's considered a sin) so they don't die a miserable death, or should they let themselves starve to death in case there is a is a Heaven? I myself say, "For the love of all that's holy, steal the loaf of bread!" I mean, hey, it's not like they haven't committed any other sins in their life, so what's wrong if they commit a sin so they don't starve?
I have responded to such statements in the past with: It may be wrong to steal a loaf of bread, but what of the shopkeeper denying a starving man food.

Hahahaha you make me laugh till I cry Mr. Guy :biglaugh:

Anarchy is not a system but an ideal that, though workable in theory, relies on a lack of selfishness. Can anyone actually, honestly see that happening. I am a cynic I will freely admit, but that beggars belief.

Lao Tzu: "Do you want to improve the world, I don't think it can be done." This of course doesn't mean we shouldn't try, it just means don't get disheartened if despite your efforts, not much changes

Anarchy with Selfishness would simply be. . . well, just painful to watch, so it's not going to happen AJ.

Not as it is, but I think it would work with everyone a freethinker. Than again it's a hypothesis that as you said won't happen (any more than a second coming).

I see what you mean, but I don't think it has completely occured at any point in recorded history.

I was speaking of Anarchy in general there. Not just selfishness. Anarchy without selfishness would be my idea of Utopia, but we are only human after all. Everyone is selfish sometimes.

Catalonia Spain.

Read up on the spanish civil war.

Interesting tidbits about the event, pimps and drug dealers were killed on sight by the general population, workers refused to take tips.
