So, my cat may have ruined my interview today

Would have made no difference to me probably. If there was a lot of remote work involved in the job, I might ask you how you were going to manage him during meetings with clients.
Otherwise I'm just laughing.
lol! How will I manage my cat? That sounds hilarious. Like I have this impossible cat. :D

Hahah! There's a reason this comic has been circulating for a few months now:

And yeah, they probably had to interview a bunch of other people under consideration. Your being memorable in a fun/silly way is probably a good thing.

@Deidre I agree with @Jose Fly that your reaction to what your cat did would probably be more of a deciding factor for most people then the incident itself.

For one thing, it gave the person conducting the interview some idea about how patient you are and how well you operate under stress.
Aw, that’s so true. I was pretty cool about it but inside I was like...oh my!

I've been on several hiring panels, and overall that sort of thing wouldn't even factor in to the hiring decision........unless you panicked or otherwise acted strange when your cat did all that. IOW, if it played a role at all, it wouldn't be due to what your cat did, but how you responded to it.

But it sounds like you apologized and laughed and may have even shared a funny moment with the interviewer, so you can probably rest easy.

And if they somehow came back and said something like "We were going to hire you, but we went another direction due to what your cat did during the interview", then you likely don't want to work there anyways. :)
I agree! Thing is, it’s never happened to me before but I love the cat over any job so...lol

I would have hired you both....of course the cat won the interview. So the cat gets the larger pay.:D

Kind of goes without saying, cats have a much better Union.

Hence the , "That's right, I don't care if you don't like the way I'm doing my job" attitude.

I got a good laugh out of your responses, so thank you. :tearsofjoy:

Being a little serious, I wonder if he didn't like the recruiter...or his voice, or something. He has been totally calm ever since the interview....ended. :sob:

Maybe this should be in the joke sub-forum but it’s not really that funny. So, today I had a great interview despite my cat interfering. He started scratching the carpet and meowing at the top of his lungs, and the recruiter started smiling. (It was a Zoom call)

Then, that crazy lil guy jumped on my desk and started meowing, pushing my laptop with his head so it moved and I couldn’t see the recruiter. Omg. I said “oh wow, I’m so sorry for this. It’s my cat...”

The recruiter laughed and my cat then calmed down. He rarely acts like this, but if you were the recruiter, would you have laughed or been annoyed?

Tell meeee...I can take it. :tired:
If it was that big of an issue you was interviewing for a company ran by robots wearing human skin.

You and your cat also need to assess the employer, it's not just a one-way thing. ;)

I haven’t heard back from this recruiter yet. To be fair, the money wasn’t enough in this position he was offering but he was going to work on some other positions and get back to me. I have another interview tomorrow by phone with a diff company, my cat should be good then. I think it had to do with Zoom. :tearsofjoy:

That could be. Although in my experience, one probably lands well less than 50 percent of jobs based on interviews. Sometimes it takes connections - knowing people within the company - to land a job in this competitive market.
