Sexuality labelling for Men

Subhankar Zac

Hare Krishna,Hare Krishna,
As the world is moving closer towards making laws that Grant LGBT people equal rights, I feel that socially it's not as open for LGBT people mainly men.
The new form of identification for men is that they can either be exclusively straight or exclusively gay. Nothing between the spectrum.

If a straight guy makes out with another guy or has sex with a guy, he HAS TO give up the label of being straight.
But for them a woman can make out with another woman and have sex but she isn't lesbian.
The heteronormative dogma that completely forbids men from having any deep conversation, from hugging each other and maintain an outward appearance of a straight macho guy with no emotions, based on this list of laws.

A straight woman can make out with a girl and still be straight, but if a guy does that, he HAS to be gay.
I m not a big fan of labels particularly for this reason as it makes one join a group and live according to their laws.
I've kissed a few straight guys, often as a joke and I still see them happy with their girlfriends.
I was taught not to cry, not to express emotions and not to be weak which still is deeply embedded in my mind and it's hard to rid yourself of their stereotypes.
If a guy who's straight feels like making out with a guy he finds attractive, no one should have the right to throw him out of the "straight macho men's club". If a straight man wishes to hug his friend or kiss him on the cheek during a time of a tragedy, he should be able to. He should able to cry and show emotion and is permitted to be as thin as me.
If a gay guy hits on you, just mention that you're straight without saying "Ewww" 200 times on group chats while describing it.
No one should be bothered. Homophobic laws are going down around most of the world and perhaps we should say goodbye to our perceptive deeply embedded homophobia and gender stereotypes as well.

Since when? A gal making out with a girl is a lesbian. Sounds insanely pretentious to me. Not you, the people who think that. You shouldn't either. Or have you seen first hand accounts?

First hand a few as well.
But many straight guys have double standards on using labels. If a straight guy kisses a guy, he's gay.
This label maker over gender roles isn't something I find very pleasant.

But it is gay. If they're not actually gay though, and did it for comedy's sake they aren't gay. Labels will always exist. We constantly categorise things. When we have two different laundry items, i don't find it unpleasant.

Then what is bisexuality? Pansexuality? Sapiosexuality?
Even asexual people have sexual preferences.
And I thought Vaishnavas didn't believe in labels?

Subhankar i said labels exist. Those thinks don't bother me. (Dang i didn't know what sapiosexuality was and thought it was some dumb buzzword. Looked it up and that's me. Wouldn't call myself that though. I believe this label thing is getting out of hand.)
Vaishnavas have Vaishnava qualities. Having a label isn't wrong. I'm straight. That's a label.

Vaishnavas have Vaishnava qualities. Labels are personal things.

Labels always get out of hand.
First it was the label of men for women and vice versa.
When Afterall, people with alternate identities became visible after centuries of suppression, the new scale is gay and straight.
Sexuality is a very complex subject that has just begun to unwrap.
Yes there's gay and straight with biological differences, but also a variety of spectrum.
I've been to one or two forums where straight men talk about experimenting with other men in college or high school.
Some straight guys watch gay porn though they don't have sex with men.
A vast variety of shades exists in sexuality. It's not a rigid subject, human emotions never are.

Huh. It's a shade shade world :D

Hare Krishna,Hare Krishna,
Or did you not mean that...

I mean people should go beyond labels. It just opens up a new perception.
I m a guy but now I do not refer to my gender as male.
By sex, I m male. by gender I m neither label or any other.
You are straight, that's fine.
But if a straight woman kisses another woman, it would be wrong to think that sges a lesbian without knowing it from her perception.

Just curious.

I honestly don't fully understand the OP, but I liked this part:

because many men are extremely feminine and many women are extremely masculine, and get bullied for it. I don't like that. Men can be feminine and they are still men. I personally hug, kiss and hold hands with men from time to time, and I'm straight. Not to mention a ~34 year old very good looking person like me is not married yet in a heterosexual oriented country :p

Kissing as in intimately? If so, that does not make sense to me. A woman kissing another woman is certainly a lesbian act. Unless you mean she can also be bisexual or something. This gender stuff is too leftist for me.

Its understandable. Point is you are willing to listen to both sides before making a conclusion.
And yes, dogma laws is wrong as not all people are the same. :)

Perhaps, but all I m saying you shouldn't repeat that how gay she is and she can't be straight.
And even LGBT didn't make sense to people during the 1950s and just 65 years later, look where we are.
Point is to keep your mind open.
When spreading your palms you try to take water from the Ganges to your mouth, your thirst will be quenched.
But if you make a fist and then try to take out water from the rivers to drink, it wouldn't work.
The open palm is submission by humility towards the faith you have in the river.
The closed tight fist is the arrogance that doesn't let the water in.
That's why I m open to all possibilities in life.
:)see if that makes sense.
And sexuality is relatively new subject with taboo beliefs. It's bigger and varied than what people think.

A lot of people view sexuality as presenting on a spectrum - like the Kinsey scale.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinsey_scale

More people are rejecting labels altogether, opting instead to be sexually fluid. These people don't subscribe to a specific sexuality label but moreso go with their own sexual flow as they see fit.

I think that the aforementioned concept of sexual fluidity will become increasingly more popular, as labels too often yield misunderstanding and discrimination.
