"Self Heal"? (with Deva Devi help)

I have noticed this among other Hindu friends and devotees, and even experienced this myself, the ability - with the help of the Devas and Devi - to "self heal" without going to a traditional doctor but using the simple determination, meditation and devotional mindset, to "self heal".

A recent example of this was just yesterday, which remided me of previous personal examples and from the observation of other Hindu adherents.

I just returned from Canada, when suddenly I had very notable pain all along the upper right side of my face from upper cheek bone straight to a pin point area of my upper right skull. This continious driving pain was an 8 on a traditional 1 to 10 scale that a doctor would inquire about. This was not just a "migraine headache", no way, it was either a deep gum infection, ear infection or other.

This was driving into the bones, but after a couple of hours of this, even though I seldom let any pain dissuade me from anything, I decided I simply will not allow it anymore.

So I went into a room, meditated on Shiva. In about 15 minutes, I fell (probably embarrassing to say) asleep, but with very strong dreams of Hanuman and a garden. When I came awake about 3 hours later, I was 100 percent without symptoms at all.

I have seen other Hindus also "self heal" (with Devas or Devi help). I admit, this example isn't like healing something serious such as cancer, but there are other general examples. It has worked for me in the past, nor am I a "health addict" and thus can recover easily per natural (I eat a lot of rather unhealthy foods such as samosas, bhatura bread, salty chickpeas and such snacks, oily Indian pickles, you get the drift).

I wonder, have other Hindus noticed this in general or is this just the "birds of a feather" good tidings?

I have tried to self heal migraines before with mantra chanting but it hasn't worked - I guess I didn't have enough faith that it would...? However, I have had a few times where I have needed great endurance and chanting has made my trials much easier. I firmly believe the Bible quote "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." Luke 11:5-13

I think that if you are really a good meditator who can control kundalini it is possible.

Shiva fan, do you know if you had a tick bite?
It sounds like Lymedisease headache. I had it, worst pain in my life.

I confess that I am highly skeptical of such things. I absolutely believe one can manage pain with meditation and prayer, but the underlying cause could still be present. Now the trouble is, because the pain is gone, there is no incentive to go to a doctor to find out the source.

However, I do believe God helps heal us. But that's why he gave us brains and chemistry and medicine.

I have a hard time forgetting those cases of fanatically religious people (naming the faith is unfair because I"m sure many faiths do this) who pray over their chronically ill children instead of going to the doctor only to have them suffer a painful death.

I don't like to be a damper, and I will say I am glad your pain is gone, Shivafanji - it sounds like it was awful, but remember that pain is information, telling us that something is our of balance in our bodies.

I have put (above) together the lines that I think best summarize your lines. Or, may be you haven't shared everything here- after all you must have felt very good coming out of it? Or something bad entering into it.

Or did you use the scenario deliberately in order to test something? pardon my interrogating, though:eek:

By breathing, holding the breath for a second, then visualising sending prana to the affected area, (like a bruise) you can help heal a part of your body. (or so I've heard)

Often severe pain has to do with inflammation and pressure. I had a nasty migraine once, and accidentally bumped my head on the roof of the car door while slowly climbing out. You'd think I would have just made it far worse, but it vanished in about 10 seconds. The bump somehow released the pressure from the brain liquid. (cerebrospinal fluid)
