Love and hate are a good summary of how the two sides of the human brain process data. Hate tries to separate the unity of things into separated things; divorce for something. This is good for differential thinking and is connected to the left brain. Love is an integrating emotion, that tries to combine things into a higher level of complexity; marriage, community, country, etc. If you hate your country, like the Left, you will try to separate it into fragments or sides; left brain.
The natural animal is more right brained, in terms of following its instincts toward uniting with its life given goals. Integrated ecosystems need the right brain to stay integrated. The left brain is also used. It is there separate the animal from things that may harm it; predators, poison food, wrong species for breeding, etc. The instinct of the herd animal is to be part of the integration of the herd; right brain. However, they will run away from predators in the direction needed for survival. But since the predator is less common; in terms of hours of the day, their brain works more from the right side; herd, eat, mate, etc. The herd males fight during breeding season. They are attracted to their opponents, since the right brain is leading; needed for a higher integration; mating, survival of the species and evolution. The brain does the math.
Humans, due to having two centers; inner self (primary) and ego (secondary), have ego will and choice that can ignore and even deny right brain instinct and the inner self; hate is connected to ego will. The pre-humans before the ego appears; no stable secondary center, were more right brained; love or integration was the norm; Eden. The secondary or ego center, to differentiate itself as separate from nature, learned to hate. This may explain why Eve wanted law of good and evil; control the social hate of the ego. But this backfired since law can be used to justify hate, since law is subjective and made by those in power. War for example, is willingly and legally approved and is not about love. You shall surely die.
The Mother animal who has bonded with her baby or babies, is one of the most ferocious examples in nature. She is fighting to maintain her right brain integration with her babies, against the urge to separate herself; flight. What is left is only fight. Her inner self is activated for integrated survival that goes way beyond herself.
Hate is connected to the ego or secondary center of consciousness. The separation of hate allows the ego to leave the right brain of instinct and spend more time in the left brain, where differential thinking is how the neurons process data. Law would often teach one to hate defined evil, allowing the ego to use the left brain more; fear god is the beginning of wisdom. In other words, fear and hate cause you to become more left brain, which is used to differentiate the world into cause and effect, until humans can see trends.
Hate is not as useful today, but it had a purpose when the ego was new and fragile. By the time of Jesus, hate was not needed, but it had became regressive and legal micromanaging was more a show of differential thinking prowess; dual standards for law or to much law plus all the exceptions.
