In My Opinion:
Today's scripture is about the transfiguration of Jesus Christ, when Jesus and Peter, John, and James went up a mountain and then Jesus started to glow - then, suddenly, Elijah and Moses appeared and began talking to him!
Here is a little-known verse about that incident:
Luke 9:31 (NASB)
who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure, which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
So, basically, Elijah and Moses broke it to Jesus that he was going to be tortured to death, buried, resurrected, and ascend to Heaven
This is how he knew what was going to happen to him
He was warned in advance
But still went ahead with it, knowing that that was his mission
And that his suffering would be temporary, but that the kingship he would earn would be permenant
