Salvation, a three phase process...

When I read the Bible I find three phases of the word, salvation. The first phase is, we are saved, the second is, we are being saved and the third is, we will be saved.

The first phase is all God. We have no power to perform the first act of salvation because it involves justification. The second phase needs our cooperation because it involves sanctification. We have to cooperate with God's saving work being performed within us. The third phase is glorification, which takes place at Jesus' second coming. This is basically the byproduct of the first two phases.

Can we make void the saving work of God in our lives? Yes.

Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

The first phase is all God. We have no power to perform the first act of salvation because it involves justification. Since it is God that gives the empowering call to come to Him, or work is to come just as we are. To chose to put ourselves in position for God to justify us, seems to be all we can perform. Would it seem true that our part is to choose and respond when God calls ?

Would not also that choosing involve involve relinquishing our idols what ever they are, as part of the turning and going to God ?
