Reclamation of Temples

During the Islamic and later invasions, 100 000 temples were demolished. Each one is different today. Some might be simply farmland, overgrown, had houses built on them, or, in many cases, mosques or churches constructed over them. There is talk about reclamation, restoring them to their original state, before any atrocities occurred. What do you think of this idea?

Jaya Jagannatha!
Namaste Vinayaka ji,

It is a great idea. Do you know Kanchi Paramacharya (Chandrashekara Saraswathi Swamigal), the 68th Pontiff of Kanchi Mutt? I even made a post about him a while ago. He was a modern day sage/saint who helped millions with his divine insights. Fixed all sorts of problems. He largely advocated restoring old temples that are perishing today and there are numerous stories wherein he recommended such renovation efforts to people who came to him and also blessed them immensely upon them doing the same. This act brings forth merit not only to the self and his immediate family, but also saves numerous forthcoming generations and also gives liberation to one's deceased ancestors.

Hope this helps!

Cheers.

This is being done in India under the scrutiny of the Courts and appeals do reach the Supreme Court. It takes a long time to happen. What I mean is that other than Babri Mosque, no mosque had been demolished in India. Temples and mosque constructed clandestinely on government land do get demolished, again according to the instructions of the Court. No one should have the impression that the current Indian government is willfully demolishing mosques. Presently, three cases are in Courts. Kashi Vishwanath, Krishna Janmabhoomi and Bhojshala in Madhya Pradesh (it was perhaps a Sanskrit school which was converted in to a Muslim Madarsa. There is one more village mosque in Karnataka, where a renovation drive revealed the existence of a temple. I think mosques/churches built on destroyed temples should be returned to Hindus.
