Ok, nobody else did it.... so here it is! (two threads for poetry now, it is a start!)
Open to all, of course. Feel free to post! The only requirement to post a poem/song/whatever is that YOU wrote it!

THE COMET

Cold, withdrawn, and icy.
Yet, a sacred fire within.
Wondering for years,
It is bound to return again.

So it comes from it's depths,
Having spent so long on it's run.
Brillian and showing again,
As it approaches it's sun.

Traveling with such purpose,
It loses much to reveal the core.
Turning for fear of the sun,
So it will hide once more.

A tail, a tale....
A moment time forgot.
Many saw, but some much more:
The hard battle it fought.

Was it asking for so much?
Its really without demand.
All for which it fought,
Not many will understand.

Always one step behind,
It asked for it's greatest fear.
Would anyone ever understand?
Few if any throughout the years.

Cold, withdrawn, and icy.
Yet, a sacred fire within.
Wondering for years,
It is bound to return again.

I lie awake into the heart of a soft summer night,
Listening to the cicada shove life forward,
Beat upon beat, until their wild shrill pulse
Is swallowed silent as a memory into time,

Then begins. Again.

And I remember once a woman passed this way
Into the heart of a long ago summer,
On the wild, shrill scream of a generation then alive.
In their ending silence she became nothing, no more

Than a name. Alison.

I remembered this I wrote the other day, which was in my books of poetry I lost many years ago.

No Blame, No Forgiving, No Pain.

There's no one to blame,
This now is all I see,
For when I was younger, my actions shouted,
But the pain inside did not flee,
Pain of life, pain of death,
All things above my self,
But realisation of NO FORGIVING!!!!!
Places my pain upon the shelf.

AWESOME- thanks for sharing.... I am musically untalented and computer illeterate, but here is one of my songs (though you can't hear it):

TOMORROW'S YESTERDAY

Tomorrow seems so far away
But before I know it, its yesterday
Today seems so real
but tomorrow its a memory
More times all I need---
to savor the days when we were young at play
From our rageing battles to our silly games

Where have our lives gone, where do they go?
Tomorrow ends up yesterday, and then its ten years ago.
Life keeps moving no matter where you're at,
So get your head out of the clouds and make today a good memory
cause tomorrow its yesterday.

One day tomorrow didn't come for you
and I know one day it won't be there for me.
It'll be like I only existed in yesterday,
as if I was never there for a tomorrow or a today.
I hope I can pass on my memories
cause if I can't.... they'll all just die with me.

Where have our lives gone, where do they go?
Tomorrow ends up yesterday, and then its ten years ago.
Life keeps moving no matter where you're at,
So get your head out of the clouds and make today a good memory,
cause tomorrow its yesterday....
Yes, tomorrow its yesterday.
