Reading Richard Rohr?

I have recently been reading Falling Upward: Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life by Richard Rohr. A friend recommended reading this author and I picked up this book with eager anticipation. But, now at the halfway point, it's just not grabbing my interest. I find Father Rohr to be very wordy, but doesn't seem to drive home his point, although I think in some vague sense I get it.
Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing from other readers. Am I missing something? Did I choose the wrong book for an introduction to this author?
