Put some south in your mouth!

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Here are some photos from my recent trip to Memphis:

Blues City Cafe on Beale Street - home of the most succulent ribs I've ever put in my mouth. Put some south in your mouth, baby!

The note in the sidewalk in front of BB King's club. He plays there regularly.

Graceland - Elvis Presley's home. Sort of sad place.

Elvis's grave - with his middle name misspelled. This leads some people to claim that this is a sign that Elvis isn't really dead!

I used to live about 70 miles north of Memphis. And the news that came out of it made it seem like the worst place in the States, even moreso than somewhere like Detroit. It made me never want to go there, even with all of the history to it. I did attend the Antiochian Orthodox church there on several occasions though, which is right near the zoo.

I've heard negatives about Memphis all my life, but we really enjoyed our visit there. We stayed at the Peabody - that probably had something to do with our level of enjoyment!

I also was pleasantly surprised by Graceland. I'm not too big an Elvis fan, but visiting there gave me a new appreciation for the King - he truly is an American icon.

My dad took me and my two brothers to Graceland when we were all under 10 years old. I didn't really get anything out of it, but that's probably due more to my age. The only things I remember about it, is that you weren't allowed to go upstairs, and they had a big hallway lined with records on the walls.

As I've grown older, I have more appreciation for Elvis and his brand of musical genius.

Graceland is pretty cool. What really struck me is how UN pretentious the house is.

Yeah, compared to the mansions you see today from musicians, like on MTV Cribs, Graceland is kind of, plain.
